Chapter 58 – Tennessee River

Kayden's POV

I wipe my palms on my jeans before knocking on Brandon's metal door. What if I found Jonas inside? How would I react? What if my best friend had betrayed me to help him hide from me? Would I have to punish him too? The hard thing was that punishing a friend wasn't like punishing a traitor. It would end up hurting both parties in the long run.

It took a while for the door to open, and when it did, Brandon was standing there rubbing his eyes as he let out a yawn. I felt bad for interrupting his sleep. To be fair, it was only three in the morning, and I knew he had just gotten back from work a couple of minutes ago.

This is quite a surprise. I wasn't expecting to see you standing outside my door by three in the morning. "

"Do you ever expect visitors?" "I ask playfully."

He replies to me with another yawn before stepping to the side, allowing me to enter. I make a beeline for one of his couches and collapse
