Alpha Dario POV

Tears were pooling in my weary eyes as I trudged up the path to the pack house. There was a lump forming in my throat that I was fairly sure was my stomach. There seemed to be a hallowed pit in my gut.

I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. The son I was worried about the most, never wanting to feel the heartbreak from my past, had miraculously gotten his wolf. It was so incomprehensible that I didn’t realize the first shift was what was wrong with him when he came out to the pond. Every other possibility ran through my head, from human sickness to a heated fight with his brother before it dawned on me what all his symptoms were pointing towards.

High temperature, body aches, splitting headache, irritability. Those were all common flu symptoms, and being without a wolf, Mick was no stranger to illnesses. He was as susceptible as a human. With all the stress he was dealing with and his reasons for finally coming home, I truly thought he was just sick.

I’m so happy I
