“Make that two, Nonna,” Mick said, coming in from the kitchen entrance. He stopped to kiss her head as she patted his cheek, then made a beeline for me.

“Cara Mia,” he exhaled, bending to bury his nose in my nape. “Ah, there it is. Perfect.”

“Rough morning?” I laughed, patting his head.

“Long morning. I think I sparred with every elite warrior, or at least most of them.”

“Why?” Miles asked, looking between my espresso and me, like he was asking permission to have some. I nodded and he gratefully lifted it to his lips. The man is addicted. Every morning starts with espresso for him.

“I let Rome out for the first time,” Mick said smugly. “You have to come to training tomorrow. You’re the last one to defeat.”

“Bull shit,” Beau huffed. “Fight Lenny.”

“Rome did,” Mick smirked. “Whooped his tail.”

“That’s why Lenny wasn’t at our training this morning,” Alexi said.

Jamie had stared after Nonna this entire time, and started to stand. “I think I should go help in the kitchen,” he muttered.
