Chapter 16

Alaric's POV.

There was no reason for excitement, but watching how I troubled Alana made me smile. I was content, and for some reasons, I couldn't wait for her to be done with the food.

My wolf was in a thrill. Scanning my eyes around the room, I figured there was nothing much that I could do, so I went back to the balcony, where the evening sky shimmered with a beautiful sunset.

"The Anatomy of the Lungs." I read it on the cover of the book that Alana was reading.

A smile crept up my face at the fact that she really meant it when she said she was interested in being a pack doctor. I picked up the book and squinted my eyes at the crest at the upper edge.

It was from the shadow pack. She must have gotten it in one of our libraries.

"What could she be studying in here?" My wolf questioned me from inside, which only further pushed me to scan through the pages.

She was obviously learning about infections that a werewolf could get in their lungs. Someone cared, after all.
