Chapter Five

Mariko closed her eyes and took a deep breath before looking back at the doctor. 'If I let her die, I also give up on her. But if not, she will suffer.' Mariko gritted her teeth. 'Once I find out who did this to my sister, I will make him pay.'

The doctor could feel the pain and anger in her eyes. It felt like Mariko could kill someone who upset her, and it gave chills down her spine. "Let me think about it first, doc. Give me a week to think," she said in an icy tone.

"Alright, miss. I know it's a hard decision for you. And I understand." She smiled, trying to comfort her.

The doctor excused herself and get back to her rounds, and Mariko went inside her sister's room.

"Hey, sis. How are you? You've been sleeping for too long. Don't you have plans to wake up? Or were you just waiting for your prince charming to wake you up?" Mariko chuckled.

Mariko took a wet towel and wiped it on her sister's arm to clean her up. "By the way, I have a new task. His a VVIP client, and he got into an accident too. He can't walk for now. I'm not his babysitter, okay." she widened her eyes like she was defending herself.

"Just so you know. It's just that I need to disguise myself as his therapist. Cause this guy didn't know about our field. But his father was a Mafia Lord before. I don't know why he kept it a secret from his son. And I don't care. I'm just there to guard him, as what they pay me for it." She grinned cheekily.

Her facade smile hides the pain in her heart. As she was looking at her unconscious sister. Suddenly, a tear escaped from her eye. She pitied her sister while looking at all the apparatus attached to Hana's body.  "Please, wake up, sis." Her voice cracked upon saying those pleading words to her sister. "I can't lose you. Don't leave me alone… I need you here." Mariko wiped her tears away. Her eyes turned red as she remembered what had happened to her sister ten months ago.

Mariko had an assignment in Brunei for a week. It was to find the lost diamond necklace of the Princess of Brunei. While she was in the middle of her task, she received a call from Itsuki telling her that her sister was involved in a car accident. But since she was on her task, she couldn't go home until she was done with her duty, which took her a week. And the person who was behind it ran from his responsibilities.

When she went home to see her sister, she also found out that Hana was pregnant and had a miscarriage because of the accident. She's been tracking it down, but she couldn't find any trace of the person behind it. And it makes her frustrated. Maybe the person who hit her sister could be from the gang or from the wealthy families who most likely hid their outmost dirty secrets. But for Mariko, whoever that asshole was, he better hide well or he will get killed by an angel.

'I'll hunt down the person who did this to you. I will be back, Hana.' She grasped the towel she was gripping while gritting her teeth. She went out when the nurse came in to check Hana's vitals. "I'll be back, nurse. Please take good care of my sister," she said and left the hospital.

Mariko went to Elite Motors to see the CEO of the company. When she mentioned her name to the receptionist, they instructed Mariko to go directly to his office.

As Mariko knocked on the door first before he went inside the CEO's room, she noticed the man standing on the floor-to-ceiling window, facing the view of a skyscraper. He has this salt and pepper-colored hair. His hands were inside his pockets.

Ethan notices her presence and turned around to face her. He frowned upon seeing a woman standing at the front door, wearing a black shirt and army pants, with her hair tied in a loose braid.

"Mr. Reed, I am agent Angel, from the Moon Castle Agency. I am the person in-charge to protect your son, Marcus Reed." Ethan smiled. He walked toward his swivel and offered her to sit in the chair in front of his desk.

"So, you are Mariko Saito. Please to meet you." Ethan offered his hand for a handshake, which Mariko gladly took it. "So, you are the legendary and undefeated youngest agent on your team." Mariko awkwardly smiled.

"I am honored to work with the famous Mafia Lord," Mariko praised her, which made him laugh.

"Don't be silly, young woman. I am no longer a Mafia Lord." He shook his head while chuckling.

"May I know why you ask to see me, Sir?" Mariko bluntly asked.

"Oh, right. I haven't seen you personally. So, I just want to meet the person that will protect my son. Itsuki recommended you to me, so, I am now at ease, now that I know how skilled you are. As you can see, I am no longer the Ethan Reed you all knew. I'm just a simple businessman. But I still have my enemies back then, who wanted to take revenge on me and my family. I just want you to take good care of my son. And I am sorry if my son is hard-headed sometimes or maybe always.

"Marcus was such a good kid before until her mother died. And I couldn't blame him for blaming me for her mother's death. I did not protect my wife, which led us into this situation."  Ethan sighed. "But I hope this time you will protect him. My son doesn't know my organization before. He had no idea why there are people who want us killed. So, I hope you will not tell him about the past." Mariko nodded.

"I will keep your secret, Sir. You don't need to worry. I promise to protect your son at all costs."

"Thank you, Mariko. He's my only son, and I don't want him to get hurt." From what Ethan said, Mariko remembered her sister. She doesn't want her sister to suffer any longer… So, she decided and needed to get back to the hospital.

"Also, I hope you can help him to walk again. And get back to his life." Ethan asked for a favor, which made Mariko wince.

"That I can not promise, Sir. I am well on the battlefield, but I am not a therapist. But like what I said, I will do everything to help him." Ethan chuckled.

"Right. I forgot. Sorry about that. Just forget my favor," he said.

"Is there anything you asked, Sir? If you'll excuse me, I need to go somewhere else." Ethan allowed him to go, and Mariko went back to the hospital.

"Doc, let's take my sister to rest in peace."
