Eliana's Pov

Noah's back was stiff as he faced the door. His hands were fisted and for a minute I felt scared. He turned to me and set his cold eyes on mine.

"What was that?" He asked his voice low and cool, like the calm before a storm. The air in the room became thicker and I felt beads of sweat form on my forehead, but I wasn't going to back down. Not today.

"What was what, Noah?" I asked, feigning innocence and I stared back at him.

His eyes flashed with anger and he combed his hand through his hair, frustration etched on his face.

"Don't play dumb with me," Noah spat, his voice dripping with venom. "I saw you talking to him. Whispering in his ear like some conniving snake."

I took a step closer to Noah, matching his intensity. "You're being paranoid, Noah. I was just having a friendly conversation."

"No, it wasn't just a conversation," he seethed, his fists clenching tighter. "I saw the way he looked at you. You noticed it too. Don't be a liar."
