62: Shotgun Proposal

"Elena, are you really okay? Let's go to the hospital first..." Rage asked again while driving. He asked me that question for already a few times.

I sighed, eyes fixed on the outside, no intention of looking at him. My chest still hurts like hell. Even hearing her voice was painful for me. So the more I need to distance myself to him as soon as possible.

"I'm fine," I couldn't contain the irritation in my voice.

I heard him sigh heavily. Fortunately, he didn't insist on what he wanted. After we left Batangas, he asked again.

"Are you hungry? We can do drive thru."

"No, I'm not..." was my short reply without glancing at him.

After a two -hour drive, we were in Manila. We didn't say a word in the car, but out of the corner of my eye I noticed his steady glance at me. Every time we stopped because of traffic, he just stared at me as if someone wanted to ask or say something but in the end chose not to speak.
