Chapter 39

“Kiss. Kiss. Kiss. Kiss.”

Johanna and another girl from St. Patrick’s both knelt at the center of the circle awkwardly trying to get closer to kiss. Some idiot had decided that the rule of the game was that the two people on whom the top and bottom of the bottle landed would have to kiss for 2 minutes and Charlie gladly offered to be the timekeeper. Jackson had produced a phone from his bag which he had earlier kept in Annabel’s room and gave it to her.

Johanna and the other girl kissed and Charlie started the countdown. The noise we made as we joined Charlie in counting down drowned the noise of the party going on out. The bottle of whiskey was passed around as were cans and cans of beer.

“Three, two, one!”

They sprang apart.

“Whoo!!”

“Okay okay next. It’s my turn to spin,” Charlie declared. She got on her knees and spun the bottle. I held my breath and waited for the bottle to stop spinning. The top of the bottle landed on Charlie and the other on Martin.
