Chapter Twenty Four
Just when I was feeling content to have had a Blade free day, there the asshole was, casually strolling towards us. With each step, I felt sicker in the stomach just watching him come closer and closer. Blade's cronies were still arguing farther in the distance, and I grew suspicions about their presence at the park at this hour. They had to be up to something.
My eyebrows knitted in anger and my hands coiled into fists as Blade was closing the distance. I was tempted to march up to him and give him a piece of my mind but I stopped when I saw Emmett walk out to meet Blade. Blade cracked a sort of smile and my mouth almost hung open in shock.

I was standing outside of the classroom when the bells chimed a second time. An unmistakable frown wafted over my facial features as students flooded the corridors in pairs and groups chatting away loudly. Hailey was one of them. I had forgotten we shared this class and I rolled my eyes and grimaced in annoyance. She had an I-dare-you-to-not-stare-at-me sort of air about her. The false grin she wore and the way she was batting her long eyelashes -as if she was on a catwalk with a thousand cameras on her- made her seem hugely egotistical, like Blade. I wasn't buying her supposedly friendly act. Hailey was nothing short of conceited and her horrible pretences otherwise were dead giveaways. Her seven cronies had joined her and she tossed her hair to the side and flung her head back in laughter, at something someone said. The other girls mimicked her actions.

Detention lasted all evening. After my little run-in with the Principal, I ended up spending an endless half-hour in his office then I was gifted a second detention for parking the Beetle in his parking space.A grimace found its way to my face as I could hardly believe my ill luck. Phoebe didn't bother to show up for work the next day, which was beyond selfish of her. I was forced to tend to all of the customers, which was her role as well as putting those stupid bouquets together.She took the day off knowing very well that I was horrible at putting bouquets together and there was no one to fill her shift.It took me ten minutes to put together a bouquet that would have naturally taken Phoebe less than a minute. The cold night wind whipped my face as I ran out into the semi-lit street. I forced my legs to go as fast as I could until I was a good distance from the house.
