Twenty Three -- Ewawummi
"Boss, can you see it all went well? Big boss agreed." Ini said as I nodded. I actually thought it was going to be difficult but immediately boss was shown the video, his guard and pride went down. He also couldn't believe what he was seeing. We told him about the woman's statement and what we intended to do. He thought for a while before nodding to our request. We were fast enough to meet boss as he hasn't communicated with other seniors. It was very easy to silence and the rest of the officers have been told to keep quiet.
"Did you listen to the news recently?" I asked Ini as he nodded.
"Yeah, Mr. Badejo was killed by some people who revealed his crimes. Serves him right!" Ini muttered as I turned to him.
"Serves him right? How could you say that?" I asked as he shrugged.
"Did you hear how he framed a man for his crimes? That man served seven good years and he p
Twenty Four -- IseoluwaI quietly locked the door before stumbling on the bed. It had been really hard to bottle all the emotions inside me. I had to be strong for the team but my inside had been burning. I sighed rolling my side so that I was facing up.Memories from the past kept flooding in no matter how hard I tried to block it. I just couldn't stop seeing them. Also, the weight of being framed for killing someone isn't part of my plan. I never knew he was going to die. Who was responsible for his death? Perhaps, his team members or the other two that were involved in the case?Urggh! I groaned as I strolled to my book shelf. My very help is what I needed badly now. I carefully scanned through the books before settling for a book on delusional disorder. I might find delusions an escape of my past memories. I rolled over, dwelling on the painful path of the protagonist in the novel. He was an orphan like me. Wow, we were re
Twenty Five -- Iseoluwa"Are we on spot?" I said as they answered. We were all connected with a device. David was stationed at the vehicle as usual. He was very fast at driving. So, in case we needed to run away, he was the best driver. Abigail went ahead to disturb the warders watching. Eric was on guard looking for the right time to take action.I brought my telescope to my face to view what was happening from above. Abigail was totally catching their attention. The mid thigh cream coloured gown she won totally hooked them. She seemed to be having a great conversation as they were all laughing."Eric, the coast is clear. I can't see anyone coming. Make the move." I said as Abigail adjusted herself on hearing us. Eric made eye contact with Johnson as he nodded. He held unto the cutlass as he began cutting in Eric's direction. Eric hid in a nearby bush. It wasn't easy trying to jump the fence. Avoiding the o
Twenty Six -- EwawummiI can't believe my eyes. I can't believe he didn't die. He really didn't. I wailed in joy."Hey, it's over ten minutes already." He muttered and I noticed the edge in his voice."Sorry, I was just excited." I muttered releasing him. I got a closer look again. He was just as handsome as I remembered."But, why are you here? You work in Oyo? Right?" He said as I nodded."I came in on a special mission to arrest some gang." I said as he nodded slowly."Oh nice, you must be so good then. I wonder why you were pursuing me. Was it because I was speeding? Oh, I do that a lot. I was just playing around." He muttered as I glared..That's true... In the station, he wasn't there. Where did they all go to? I am sure that this was the plate number."What happened here? How did you get this car?" I asked him as he shrugged.
Twenty Seven -- IseoluwaWhat a twist? She was the one in charge of our case? How did that even happen? I drove back to the hotel in haste. It was nice to see her again but it would have been nicer if she wasn't the one in charge."Thank God you are back. Abigail isn't herself." Eric said on seeing me. I saw him pacing round my room."What? Let's go." I replied as we left for Abigail's room. We met David knocking on her door. The door was locked from inside."You are here!" David said in relief as he looked really worried. "She locked herself up since we returned. She was shivering from fear as she ran in. Something is wrong and she desperately doesn't want me inside. She threatened to hurt herself if I come in." He squealed as I moved closer to the door."Abigail, can you hear me? As you can see, I came back. Can I come in?" I asked as there was silence for a while."I
Twenty Eight -- EwawummiI parked carefully in the garage. The house they provided was very nice. It wasn't the biggest but it was really comfortable for just one person. I took in the interior decorations. It was to my taste. I am sure boss gave them some inklings. It had a large living room and a very big room enough for three people. A giant white bed was at the centre of the room. It was lined with a purple linen. Still taking in the beauty, I ran to the kitchen. It was neat and already filled with foodstuffs. I wondered what I'll do with the money they gave me.I came back to the room with the luggage I left in the living room. Arranging the room took more time than I expected. I can be very picky at times. After hours of arranging, I slumped on the bed. My mind drifted back to the time I had with Ise. It was pretty short though I can't seem to get the time spent out of my mind.I waved it off as I decided to think about the ca
Twenty Nine -- Kunle"This case is getting tougher than I expected. I thought it would be clearer with Johnson in custody. But, what do I do now? They helped him out. Something is fishy. Hannah, I'm getting confused." I explained adjusting my tie with force."You need to calm down. You know you can only think well when you are relaxed. I know I'm not a police like you but, as a lawyer I need to say this. This issue looks beyond what you think. How about you dig deeper. Look into the case with the heart of a criminal. You might be able to find your answers." She said softly, each words hitting me like ice to my face."Thanks a lot, love. Should I do this alone? Or inform Ewawummi?" I asked."That's right. I hope you don't get to close to her. I can't stand another lady being next to my man. I looked her up. She was really pretty." She said as I laughed."Wait what? You are feeling jealous?
Thirty -- IseoluwaI entered the room with a frown. I knew I over reacted with the cop. I wasn't just in the proper mood."Ish, what's up? What's getting you worked up?" Dave asked with a sly smile. He was busy with his system."Durotola has hired a new bodyguard. I heard that the person is really skillful." I muttered as I sat down."Seriously? That's why you are upset? Are you afraid or what?" Eric replied as I shrugged."Of course not. But, I wanted our meeting to be a surprise. It looks like he was aware of us already." I added as they nodded."But, how did he know? You haven't brought up the event that brought them together. Also when Mr. Badejo found out about it, that was his last day. He died the moment you left his room. So, how would he know that you are coming for him?" Eric asked as I sat up."That exactly is getting me worked up. I don't understan
Thirty One -- EwawummiI parked at the hospital's garage. I was dressed in black khaki trousers and boots with a deep blue top to match. I loved my look, it made me seem official. My braids were parked into a neat ponytail. I got down from the vehicle after giving myself a last check in the mirror. His office was described to me. It didn't take long to find it. I was a little nervous. It had been three days since boss told me. I had only less than three weeks to repay my debt. I really hoped I would do a good job."Come in." He replied as I entered before bowing. "Oh, Ewawummi right?" He asked as I smiled looking up."Hi Mr. Durotola, Ewawummi is reporting to duty." I said with a smile as he laughed."Have a seat. So, what do you know about this position you are about to take?" He asked as I nodded."I am here to be your second hand. I would protect you from any form of attack
