I didn’t know why I hadn’t smelled it sooner, but the scent of burnt sulfur was heavy in the air as we approached what looked like a warehouse. When we reached the large door that would allow us to gain access to the building, the others joined us. We stopped and looked at each other for a long time without speaking.

I couldn’t be sure if they were communicating with each other without including me. I felt like I was in the dark about what was going on. They all had a look of understanding on their faces that I couldn’t grasp.

“What is it?” I asked, using the link, since I wasn’t sure if we were being quiet anymore or not.

“When a Lycan is being burned, they secrete a strong sulfur scent. There is a Lycan here, but I don’t think they are here on their own. We were going to rush in but realized that if they could capture one of our kind, then it is likely that this situation is a lot more dangerous than we thought.” Kierian responded telepathically, which confirmed we were still
