Jack POV “Sweet Moon Goddess I will not get used to that,” I say as I grab my chest. She just pops in all stealth. She would be a good weapon to have. And then I realize we may have that in Sarah, but there is no way in hell I will allow her to fight or be anywhere that I cannot protect her. “Why could you not wait twelve hours?” Miranda yells at all of us. Jenna is looking amused at the petite woman, as Adam, Sam, and I look somewhat guilty. Sarah does not seem remotely bothered by the little spitfire. And I noticed Miranda came on her own. “How did you know?” I ask her confused how she arrived so quickly. “I was on my way back to put a protection spell over you, but of course you just had to tempt fate!” she continues on her rant as she paces the floor. “And why would you approach the woman knowing she was playing with evil?!?” Miranda demands of us. She stops in the middle of the floor, “Well … somebody speak, or I will leave and not r
Sarah POV I knew everyone was tense as we all went our separate ways. Well except for Josie who joined us as she was staying on the Gamma’s floor. Not that I minded. It was nice knowing someone else was on the floor with us. Not sure why that mattered to me, but it did. Jack took my hand as we led the way to our floor. I chuckled internally already thinking of it as mine. Jack would be pleased but I was not ready for him to know the way I was thinking. We walked in the opposite direction of our rooms and led Josie to her suite. Jack opened the door with a swipe key and then passed it to Josie. This would be her room. Josie walked in and gasped as she took in the room. It was designed in neutral beiges that gave the room an instant warm and welcoming feeling when you waked in. I moved behind Josie taking her hand wanting to show her around. She squeezed mine as she let me lead her to the various rooms. The walk-in closet, which I suspe
Sam POV I did not know what drew me to Josie’s room but one minute I was on my way to my own rooms and suddenly I found myself at Josie’s door. I had waited for Jenna and Adam to leave her room. I was glad they were making her feel welcome. She deserved that after having gone through the ordeal with Tim. It still pissed me off that he had gotten away the day we had rescued Josie. And he was now squirrelled away somewhere. The chicken shit that he was. What kind of Rogue King hides away when he should be the most feared? Clearly, he was not, and he needed Josie to complete that legacy. Well, he would not get her as long as I was alive. I knock on her door wondering if she had already gone to bed. Second guessing my attempt to talk to her I start to turn away when the door suddenly opens. “What did you forget?” she asks assuming I was Jenna and Adam. She then turns to me, and I am caught by her natural beauty. The moment I me
Josie POV The moment Sam’s lips touched mine, I felt a spark I did not expect to feel. And then the next moment Sam was grabbing his head in pain. I stood up uncertain of what to do. “Should I call the Pack doctor?” I ask but I do not believe Sam can even hear me through the pain. Since I cannot mind-link anyone I grab my cell phone and call Jenna asking her to come immediately. I hang up the phone and try to touch Sam on the shoulder, but it only brings him more pain. The door to my suite is opened, with Jenna and Adam racing in. Adam was in a pair of sweats and Jenna had on leggings and a tank top. “What is wrong?” Adam asks as he looks around the room trying to locate a threat. I point to Sam with my throat tightened from trying not to cry. I had caused this pain. Rather the spells had but I could not help but feel responsible. Jenna takes a step towards Sam, but Adam stops her moving to stand in front of her. Jenna sigh
Sam POV Miranda arrived earlier than expected the next morning. Her and Rick had joined us all for breakfast before she and I walked away to get started on breaking the spell that had wrapped itself around me. Rick joined us. “Do you mind that Rick is here with us?” Miranda asks. Shaking my head, she continued, “He helps ground me when I am breaking a spell. I can often extend a process with his support.”. Nodding my head, “That is what we see with Jenna and Adam. He helps her endure longer healing sessions,” I share with them. “Interesting. It seems there are parallels between what I do and what she does. I find that fascinating,” Miranda comments. “It has been a learning process for all of us, that is for sure,” I offer. We walk into my office, and I stand uncomfortably at the door as Miranda and Rick walk in. My office is quite big so there is ample room for all of us. I am just uncertain of what to do next. Miranda laughs, “First t
Sarah POV I had been nervously waiting all morning for my time with Miranda. I wanted to share with her my encounter last evening. As well as start my training. I had been pacing for about ten minutes now, when Jack stood up from his desk and walked over to me. “Sweetheart, not that I mind seeing your sexy ass every time you turn around, but I am afraid you will wear a hole in the floor at the rate you are pacing,” Jack says to me. Looking at him with a red face, I nod, “I know, I just cannot stop myself,” I say to him as he pulls me over to sit on his lap. I feel tense at first, but then I start to relax. His hand is lightly tracing designs on my lower back and helping ease the tension that was building inside of me. “Now just breathe, Sarah. Miranda knows where to find you,” Jack assures me. “It is lunchtime. Why don’t we go and get an early lunch?” Jack suggests as we are sitting there. “That sounds like a good idea,” I reply standing
Miranda POV I could tell Sarah was starting to get tired, but I was in awe of her talent. “Just one more spell, Sarah and then we will break for the day,” I assure her. We had been at it for hours. I could not contain my excitement, now that her shield was down, she was unstoppable. She was working on smaller spells, but still quickly and more importantly accurately. It was clear someone had seen the power within her and wanted to contain it. But why? Why would someone do that to her at such a young age. Witches in her position often find themselves having mental breakdowns. The power builds within them, and they have no place to express that power and it almost combusts internally. That she has maintained her sanity is a tribute to her strength. Had she had her powers in place, she would have been able to better protect herself when she had been kidnapped. That was my goal. To help her establish quick and easy ways to protect herself
Josie POV I sat there listening to the conversations happening around me. I had not jumped into the conversation. I had noticed Sam had not either. I kept playing in my mind the man who visited Sarah last night. Something about his description was taunting me. It was not possible. He was dead. Gone. We had burned his body. “The man you are describing is my father,” I share with the group hurriedly. I cannot stop the words from forming and leaving my mouth. I saw Sam stand a little taller while everyone else simply stared. “Eric beat your father when he killed him. He could not be alive,” Jenna says with fear in her voice. It was no secret my father had been after her when he was alive. “I know. I was there when Eric killed him. I simply cannot understand how it could be him. What other explanation is there?” I ask everyone in the room looking at Sam. He looks at me like he is pained for me. “Maybe it is someone else? Did your fa
