47- His silent treatment

Ezra tossed the food to Anna and her mouth watered at the sight of it but his story still bothered her. "It's kinda hard to believe an eight year old ran away from home," she admitted. Even while Martha had told her that story, she still felt parts of it were missing.

She blinked at him, "And they didn't search for him?"

"Well," Ezra untied and pulled off the apron. "You'll have to ask Luna Martha herself."

She shrugged, "I could as well just ask Leroy."

She was oblivious to Ezra's narrowed gaze and pursed lips. He wouldn't be the one to tell her because he too couldn't make sense of it. The four years Leroy spent away from home was a mystery to him as well.

He could never forget the blank look on his face when he asked where he went.

"I don't know," Leroy had looked up to the sky. "I just woke up one day and the last time I saw mom and Leah was three years ago."

Ezra still felt the shock like lightning sparks that moved in his bones. Leroy had little to no memory of what happened.
