68|| Confrontations and "let's not have the conversation"

The door opened and Anna straightened on the couch. Leroy walked in with a shopping bag in his hand. It seemed like he had gone out for groceries. He had changed his outfit from there too. He wore a lavender plain shirt. She was reminded again how much he liked bright colours.

They suit him well.

"You're back," she said and got to her feet, briefly looking at his glum face and the cold floor. There was no difference between them except that his cold look made her chest throb.

"Are you alone?" he asked.

"Yes. I asked Eskel and Ezra to leave me by myself for a while," she forced a smile. "I was getting tired of being watched," why did the air feel so thick?

"They were supposed to be with you," he frowned a little, his eyes glancing over her. Why couldn't he look at her for more than a minute?

"They have their own life, you know," she laughed, trying so hard to force the conversation. It was obvious that he didn't want to talk to her. He was giving the silent treatment. Why was he acting
