Isabella's POV

Hearing him say that made my heart dance with joy and made my mind freeze in shock. How could he say he's falling for me when I've only known him for less than a week? Is it even possible for someone to feel this strongly for another in such a short period of time?

As much as I'm happy to hear him say he might be falling for me, the more sensible part of me is saying that he is only saying this because he's vulnerable. This is not how he actually feels, his emotions are all over the place due to his grief. They are practically clouded by grief and he's trying to find a way to deal with it.

The realisation that he is only asking me on a date as a distraction from his grief hurts like salt on a fresh wound.

"You don't have to say anything back. I just wanted you to know." He gently said while taking my hands into his and giving them a gentle squeeze.
