Chapter 9

Kara's POV...

 

I seem to find it hard to move from where Simon left me. The room looked so tiny and dark one would think it was haunted. The bunks to sleep on rattled at every move the other slaves made on it. I can almost see my possible end in this unkempt room. But on second thought, it's far better than me becoming a rogue. This room feels luxurious compared to the woods, where I had to sleep on rotten trees to avoid getting bitten by snakes or having wild insects consume me.

 

One of the slaves with strange brown hair let out a venomous hiss. "Is this a joke? Or are my eyes deceiving me?"

 

Another, with a rat face, gave me a look down. "you are not being deceived. It's the one and only Lady Kara."

 

I expected the third one to say something, but she stayed quiet, sizing me up. I raised my hands in surrender.
