regret and confusion

Tiffany followed Erland with trembling steps until they reached the room and released her grip strongly, causing her to fall onto the bed.

"Erland!" she exclaimed in panic.

Erland remained silent, walking towards the window and leaning his hands there, gazing outside with his breath hurried due to emotions and anxiety, all imagined by Maelie.

'This is stupid, really really stupid. I shouldn't have just stayed silent when she's here... I shouldn't have been kind to Tiffany!' he thought angrily, even clenching his fists, feeling the urge to hit something. 'she must be very hurt...
