Chapter 49

MARCUS

Nicole's body trembled as tears cascaded down her cheeks, leaving salty trails on her skin. Her eyes were red and swollen.

"My art career has been ruined for life," she whispered,

I reached out to comfort her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "No, don't say that," I said softly. "Something can be done about this, I'm sure we can still fix this. I just have to place a few calls."

But Nicole shook her head, her sobs growing louder. "It's too late," she said, her voice barely audible. "Not even your influence can change the damage that has been done."

Desperate to help, she began scrolling frantically on her phone, her fingers moving so fast they blurred.

I could see the pain and frustration etched on her face as she clicked from one blog to another, her eyes darting over the comments section.

I knew that what she was seeing was only making things worse, so I gently took the phone from her, not wanting her to see any more hurtful words.
