Chapter 16: Patience running low

Lucas and Emily Ferguson walked into the building, their luggages in their hands. They had taken a two weeks break, say vacation.

“I'm exhausted, a little bath will sooth me” Emily said as she turned the knob.

They stepped in to see Khloe curled up on the floor sobbing.

“Khloe?” Lucas called her name and she raised her head. Her face was pale and the dry tears were evidence.

“Dad?... I don't know how and when I fell asleep” she said, trying to get up.

“Why are you crying? Is something wrong?” Emily said in a very sweet voice.

Khloe felt disgusted by the sound of Emily's voice and was about to get up and leave.
