Chapter 6

“So what would you have us do now sir” Leah asked, her eyes staring suspiciously at the man driving

“I’ll have you do nothing than to follow me and let me get the bullet out of her arm , she’s going to die soon if not treated fast” the man said, swerving to his right direction.

"Huh?... Are you a medical practitioner?" Leah asked..

"Damn, do I need to be a doc to save a life?" He fired back

"Yeah, because I can't imagine someone who isn't in the medical field to endanger her life.. she's so.."

"Alright..alright, I'll get my doctor friend for you" He answered, reassuring them

“But I told you I can ... .... Ahhh” Bianca mellowed, holding the arm where she was shot.

Leah tried to get another rag that she can use to wrap her arms since the other one was soaked with her blood already.

“You can have this” the man said, passing his face towel to the duo at the back seat “Don’t just look at me like that, just do what you have to do and save her life” he said to Leah who still stared at him.

“But why did you decide to rescue us even though I .... ....Bianca chuckled as she tried to speak remembering the odd thing she did to him.

“You did what ?” Leah asked.

“Never mind buddy, just help me tie those clothes fast please” Bianca answered.

Soon they drove to a very bug duplex, its surroundings was filled with tender flowers with a fountain sets sprinkling on them. The smell oozing from the flowers made the atmosphere smell nice and even made the fresh air bloom.

Several men in suits were positioned at the entrance of his house as they all bowed down in honor of him, Leah struggled to open the door as Bianca rested on her arms with her pale looking eyes, and she had lost so much blood and was beginning to feel dizzy. It took the sound of Leah’s phone clutter on the floor for him to look back.

“You don’t just want to go inside and leave us out here, do you ?” Leah fired.

“I’m sorry, I never meant so,” he replied. Bianca could feel the tone with which he spoke with her, she could sense emotions laced in his voice and she was moved to think that the men which she embarrassed in the club could be saving her life shows the highest form of love for her.

He placed Bianca's arms on his shoulder as he lifted her up the ground with both hands, he carried her like his newly wedded wife leaving even Bianca to blush at his act.

“Maybe he could actually make an awesome spouse really?” Leah thought as she chuckled at the duo.

If not for the pain she was feeling Bianca could swear that she really loved the way she was feeling as she was grinning from ear to ear like a secondary school girl. She wrapped her arms around his flexible shoulders as she perceived the smell of his expensive deodorant, she could almost swear that he was using a product she was very familiar with, the scent itself was very appealing.

It took her back on the soft couch to bring her back to reality as he placed her on the couch, he walked to the fridge as he took a chilled bottle of water pouring it into a cup.

He picked his phone as he dialed a number whilst processing the call...

“Hey Buddy, how are you doing?” the tone from the other end asked.

“Not really good, I’d really need your urgent help here," he answered.

Kelvin could notice his voice from the other end as he could depic t what the matter was... “What’s wrong Carl .... is there a problem?” He asked.

“Yeah man, I actually got into an accident with someone and she’s here now bleeding” he said.

“A she ?” Kelvin asked, almost laughing.

“Kelvin, come of that, this is really not the time to joke man .... I’m in hot shit here” he said, getting pissed.

“Alright, alright. I’ve got you buddy, I’ll send my team down straight away” Kelvin said.

“Kelvin, don’t be a crook. I need you here, not your team” he answered.

“Hey Carl! When did you start caring for ladies, I thought you ....” He was interrupted by the smirk from Bianca whose eyes already looked dull.

“Hello Kelvin, I need your butt here within minutes now” he ordered as he cut the call, rushing off to check on Bianca.

He placed his hand on her cheek caressing it gently, he could tell that she was really in pain. He really did not know what about her was so special, he felt so drawn to her really.

Bianca on the other hand could feel his soft hands on her cheek, she really wished he could continue caressing it as he was doing now but seems luck wasn’t really on her side as he took his hands off her.

“Hey you, you should watch over her now. I wanna go get some shower, call on my maids if you really want to get anything she’ll be there for you” he said, motioning towards the stairs as he stopped halfway looking back at them as if being ordered to.

His eyes met with that of Bianca as they both stared at each other for some seconds before the clearing of throat from Leah cut through

“Yeah, if you don’t mind. Can we actually know your name, I mean we should know the name of the so-called person helping us out” Leah asked.

He chuckled as he walked along the stairs not minding her request .... “You wanna know who I am?” He asked again.

“Just check online for the heir to the Barrington Corporations” his voice rang along the staircase giving an echo effect.

“Huh.... That’s so rude” Leah muttered aloud... ‘How could he ask me to check online for his identity, he seems to be full of himself” Leah muttered aloud, this time loud for Bianca to hear.

“You said what?” Bianca asked from her lying position.

“Nothing, just ... just singing,” Leah answered.

“So won't you do what he asked you to do?” Bianca asked back

“Do? Like to actually search for his name on the web” Leah reiterated.

“Yeap, search for it. Who knows he could be a cool catch for real” Bianca said.

“Oh C’mon Miss, searching for his data would be the same way of wimping, I mean he’s really not special as he thinks he is,” Leah countered.

“Leah” Bianca began... “The fact that he saved us and brought us into his personal home shows he’s really special and the fact that he owns this edifice shows he’s wealthy... so pick your goddamn phone and check him out” Bianca said.

Leah rolled her eyes and twitched her nose in a sheepish style as she brought out her device, turning it on and allowing the device to load.

Leah rolled her eyes and twitched her nose in a sheepish style as she brought out her device, turning it on and allowing the device to load as she turned her modem on while clicking on the search bar of her web browser.

She hasn’t even imputed the correct details in the search engine when the suggestions began popping up. She clicked on one of it as she shone widely at the information it brought out, she really couldn’t believe it.

The son of the great Barrington techits was Carlisle Smith who in turn was the man who just rescued them, she looked over Bianca who was lying at the couch before her, and she really could tell that she was in for a good ride with this man if she could pitch her tent with him.

The door bell rang twice as one of the maids rushed to get it, revealing a young bearded man with a briefcase with him, the stethoscope he hung around his neck gave him out as a doctor.

He smiled at the maid signaling her to get their boss for him while he walked towards where Bianca was laying.

“Is this your friend?” He asked, kneeling beside Bianca as he opened his briefcase revealing the content in the bag.

“Yeah ... and you’re the doctor he called just now I guess” Leah answered, glaring intently at him.

“Oh yea, that crazy chap”

“He would be with you shortly sir” the maid who had gone to get Carlisle said, as she returned to her duty post.

“Oh alright....”

He felt the pulse of Bianca as she lay on the chair, whilst placing the stethoscope around his neck on her chest, he could feel her heart beating faintly signifying what he wanted to check as he nodded.

He brought out a medical tool kit with some drips attached and a metallic plate with some little irons and knives. The sight of those tools made Leah almost throw up as he knew the action he was about to undergo would be very painful for Bianca.

Carlisle Smith walked down the stairs with his shorts and little silky under wears on before he sighted Bianca paled eyes from afar, he rushed at her to hold her almost tripping on the stool.

“Hey relax man, I’ve got you covered ... you have nothing to worry about” Kelvin said, giving him a crazy wink.

Carl who in turn understood what he meant frowned back at him, he really wasn’t ready for his taunts and jokes now.

“Now, you’ve got to hold her well buddy, I’m about to remove the bullets” Kelvin said, putting on his hand gloves.

Bianca could feel his smooth hands over her arms again as he held her up, she really wasn’t able to open her eyes as it felt too heavy. She could only squint at him

“Be careful doc, she’s just a lady” Leah muttered as he drew near her with his tools.

“I’ve got you covered, you have nothing to worry ... You can ask him, "I've been.....”

“Would you get to work now and stop spilling gibberish all around?” Carl fired, getting angry.

He could feel Bianca heart beating fast as a result of his raised voice as he looked upon her in pity.

“Chill man, I’m here” Kelvin said, still in smiles.

Kelvin and Carlisle had been friends since secondary school actually and even down to their college days, they had lived in the same room sharing different things together.

Whilst Carl went to the engineering dept because of his love in building and technology, Kelvin went into the medical field.

His level of humor was so high that it most times pissed those around him as they wondered why he always jokes with everything and a lot of things but even at that, his level of expertise and professionalism was on another level. His private hospital was actually the best in the states. He was ranked the fifth top medical practitioner in the country with his hospital being the second best.

So even though he looked annoyed for some time, Carl had no other medical practitioner he could trust, he could state it broadly that he trusted Kelvin with both his life and properties, but things took a new turn along the path of their friendship.

Kelvin carefully inserted his tiny platulla into her wounded arms after cutting the flesh covering off. That single act alone had irritated Leah and almost made her throw up as she went into the toilet to vomit.

The wails and shouting from Bianca echoed around the building as she held on tightly to Carl’s grip who on the other hand held her firmly.

Kelvin was halfway into pulling the bullet out as Bianca let out a loud scream and shook her arm, hindering him from pulling it out completely.

“Oh Shit” he cursed.

“What’s the matter?” Carl asked, looking troubled.

“Just tell your girl to hold on tightly, the thing is almost out” He said, sweat breaking out of his forehead.

“Hey, Hey ..... Hey look here” he said, shaking the sweaty Bianca. . “Listen you really got to hold on tightly, he’s almost done please” Carl pleaded.

“Oh no, this ought not to be me” Bianca wept remembering the circumstance surrounding her present predicament and how her Grand father died.

“Please can you swear that I’ll live, I really don’t want to die please” She pleaded, facing the astonished Carl who in turn directed his gaze at Kelvin who nodded giving him an assurance of her safety.

For the first time, Carl was grateful Kelvin didn’t joke around as he gave a straight answer with no emotions attached.

“Listen, you would be alright okay ... just allow this chap here to do his job, he’s very trusted” he said, shaking Bianca’s body. “Yeah, but you really got to hold on okay, just chill okay?”

“Yeah, but I really need a request from you, Mister,” Bianca said, staring at Carl and Leah at the same time. Leah winked at her wondering what her request would be.

“Please Mister, can you marry me ?”
