Chapter Forty Two

"Oh, the man I came with? He was a close acquaintance of mine."

"Wow. Really? I thought you were engaged or lovers."

"Oops. What did you come to do there that day, though? I didn't know doctors were interested in things like that."

"Me? I came because my Mum insisted. You looked different from that time though."

"How?"

"I mean, now seeing you as a doctor is admirable. I thought you might just be an elite person who was more interested in hobbies than professional jobs like being a doctor."

His words made her chuckle. She herself never thought she would return to a dream she thought was long buried.

"So which version of me is better?"

"Definitely this," answered Ryan.

Stacy didn't realize how the words had flowed simply and eloquently in her conversation with Ryan, when she was about to get trapped by an unexpected scenario, of him recognizing her from her past. There was no way she would ever disclose her past with Carlton to anyone, if they never had an idea about it before.
