Chapter Sixty-Six: Contesting for Prom Queen

Madeline rolled her eyes because she obviously knew who had just spoken. She turned around to find Jessica, the school’s queen bee and her minions standing behind her. She opened her mouth to speak but someone beat her to it.

“What are you doing here, Jessica?” Emily asked, a frown etched on her face.

Jessica said with a smug smirk,

“Oh, just checking if losers like you got an invitation to the prom.”

Madeline couldn’t help but become irritated. Choosing not to lose her composure, she answered,

“Well, Jessica, you’re invited to the prom too just like everyone else, loser it is not. You don’t have to fear losing your crown. It’s not like any of us on this table are going to compete with you for prom queen.”

“Please, I wouldn’t be caught dead at a prom with the likes of you,” jeered Jessica.

“ I should be doing better things,” she added.
