Chapter 72 "Their Punishments"

Third Person’s POV

The night before Astell brought Reese to his house, the two had a talk.

Astell is looking at Reese, while the lady kept her head down. They stayed like that for long minutes in the waiting room of the hospital. Until Astell spoke.

“Why can’t you look into my eyes?” he asked.

Reese’ shoulder flinched. Then she uttered, “it is because I don’t think I can face you again, mister. I am so embarrassed.”

“And why are you embarrassed?”

“Because your daughter got into an accident. Although it wasn’t me, I still feel I have to be responsible. I am so sorry. I am so sorry.”

Astell breathed sharply. At first, he was disappointed because he thought Reese poisoned his daughter but he was convinced that Reese is also the victim in this case.

Reese cried again and the old man looked at her with pity.

“Reese,” he called, raising his hand. He placed his palm onto her head and gently patted her.

The crying lady stopped sobbing.

“Why are you blaming yourself?” Astell asked
