They continued tugging on each side of the backpack when the door to the apartment opened, showing Wyoming’s father in a wheelchair.

Wyoming was more surprised at her father’s reaction.

His face showed none of the objection she was expecting to her bringing a man home. On the contrary, he looked like he was waiting for their arrival.

Wyoming paled, the color draining out of her face.

Did Cayden tell on her?

Did he divulge their secret to her father?

Did he betray her trust?

Her heart thumped wildly in her chest. She started to panic.

She looked again at her dad's welcoming smile and forced herself to calm down. Since her father was not angry, and as she predetermined from what she knew of Cayden, it was very likely that he would not tell on her.

For a while, she thought he did, but knowing Cayden and having spent some time with him, she knew - with certainty he would not do that.

He would not go out of his way to intervene with her business.

He respects their agreement.
