CHAPTER SIXTY THREE

SCARLETT'S POV.

The sound of a large crash and the force of my head swinging forward and then sideways dangerously close to the car window had me jutting awake with a racing heart.

What the hell?

I looked up at the window and saw that we'd crashed into a huge tree in the middle of nowhere. It was pitch dark except for the faint light coming from the vehicle.

Oh shit. I'd warned Luca about this. I'd told him that it was very dangerous to drive in a place like this at the dead of the night and he hadn't listened. Now we had had an accident.

"What happened? How did ... Why?" I asked, bewildered and still clutching my chest, breathing heavily.

Luca looked disheveled too. His eyes were wide and if I could see clearly, his cheeks were kind of pink(why though?) While he breathed heavily just like me.

"A deer... A deer ran out from the bushes and I lost control," his voice was tight, somehow sounding like he was embarassed and feeling guilty. But I wasn't sure if I was reading that right
