Charlotte remained silent as she realized she had divulged too much already. "I'm leaving," she retorted, threatening to stand up and depart. But Lucas halted her once again.

"Was that what Uriel told you that day? The day you refused to talk to me about what she told you?" Lucas seethed, gripping Charlotte's hand tightly.

"Let me go, Lucas," Charlotte struggled, evading his gaze.

"I don't understand why this girl won't give up," Lucas muttered to himself, avoiding her gaze and speaking barely above a whisper. But Charlotte heard him.

"Give up? Aren't you two engaged? she called you her fiance" She retorted fixating her eyes on him, hoping he would deny it and make her feel like she had misunderstood.

"No, Charlotte. And I'm not getting married to her either. She just has this delusion in her mind. You shouldn't listen to anything she tells you," he tried to convince her.
