Chapter 22

EVERETT

"Was our boss happy with the presentation?" Kyra walks into my office as I'm studying old market analytics data for new budgeting reports that I have to turn in by the end of the day. "Did Wayne grasp everything that you had to say?"

Not looking up from the screen of my computer, I put a hand up, and she quiets down because I'm jotting down some numbers to put in the report. After a long moment, I decide to speak.

"Not really, I just handed him the file because I felt like I wouldn't be able to do a good job presenting the facts, so I left the file with him so he could call me back later if he had any questions related to the different aspects of the reports."

Kyra looks at me like I have grown three heads out of my skull and stands still in silence. Before she can speak, I move to the other page of the data avoiding the murderous gaze she's tossing in my direction.

"You did what?"

"I did what I felt was right."

"That's not why I had hired you, Everett Fischer." Kyra thunders
