Chapter One Hundred & Ten

Emma's chest heaved with frustration as she struggled to contain her anger. With one final glare at Ivanka, she turned on her heel and stormed away.

As she maneuvered through the bustling crowd of attendees and out of the hall going over to where Lucas's car was parked, her mind churned. The encounter with Ivanka played over and over in her mind, each word and gesture etched into her memory. She had been deceived, and she had fallen for it foolishly. She couldn't imagine how Lucas would feel.

Lost in contemplation, Emma collided with someone, the impact nearly throwing her off balance. Startled, she looked up to see a figure striding hurriedly towards the parking lots filled with vehicles.

"Excuse me," Emma called out, but the person didn't pause or acknowledge her apology.
