"I feel so sad," I said, leaning back against the couch as I fiddled with my fingers.

"Why?" Matthew asked. "Have I done something wrong?"

Well, he's definitely one of the reasons why my heart is so uneasy these days. Ever since he told me that we should stick to being "friends," my heart has been hurting more than usual.

It didn't feel as painful as trying to be sold by your parents to a prostitute's house, but it's still pretty painful—like a dull ache in my heart.
