Relief floods through my veins now that the flight is finally over. After that first encounter, Mason wasn’t interested in talking anymore and spent most of the flight drinking.

Lux never spoke during the flight, instead paying attention to her music and occasionally squeezing or rubbing my hand. As we get off the plane Mason says, “I have a car for us.”

I look at him skeptically with one eyebrow raised and he rolls his eyes at me and says, “Chill, I’m not trying to hurt the princess or anything like that.”

Lux murmurs, “He’s telling the truth. He has no ill intent.”

I breathe out as I nod and after a few minutes a limo pulls up. We get inside with Mason, and he says, “Take us to the Lunar Café.”
