Alpha Avery Haley has pretty much moved into my room. She has been here every night and I love it. Slowly she has been bringing more and more of her clothes into my room, taking up very little close space but I’ll soon change that. I have been wanting to bring up marking her but we are in such a good place that I have been to nervous to bring it up. I trained with her this morning for a bit and I am very pleased with how strong she has gotten. I have meetings all afternoon and have to leave her with the boys. She has been a bit annoyed with me for keeping Harrison and Aiden as her guards, but with the threat of an attack by Alpha Jake I am not taking any chances. Haley I recognize some of these wolves. They are Red Moon warriors and they’re after me. Quickly Crescent Moon wolves are on the defense and Harrison is dragging me out the back door with Nick and Ray behind me. “Haley, let’s go!” “Where are we going Harrison?” “The pack house has a panic room. We need to get you inside. We need to shift.” “No, they’ll immediately recognize me.” “Shit. Boys shift, Haley stay behind us,” Harrison orders. The boys shift and we race towards the pack house. The people are in a panic as they try to get off the streets safely. I notice a young girl pinned down and I immediately change direction. “Haley! No!” I ignore the mind link and tackle the wolf as I shift, sinking my teeth into it’s neck. I gag at the awful metallic taste as Hazel takes over to rip the wolf’s throat out. “Run,” I mind link the girl who snaps out of it and runs away. Alpha Avery Spartan is furious to see our mate, naked in that bastards arms. “Surround them,” I order my warriors who veer off from me. I can hear Haley is still putting up a fight. “Go to hell,” she hisses at him and I can’t help but feel pride at how strong she is being at this moment. “I am surprised you are still awake, but no matter. You can’t move. It’s time to return you to where you belong.” I snarl at him when we reach him and Haley. His body stiffens and I can see real fear in his eyes. “Put my mate down now. She’s not going anywhere.” Alpha Jake smiles at me as he pulls Haley closer to him. “I have a surprise for you Avery.” Out of now where a ball of dark light is launched from behind Alpha Jake and it hits one of my wolves. My warriors howls in pain until his body stills. Mason As soon as we arrive at the hospital, Dr. Sully is ready with two teams. Once begins to assess Avery while the other assesses Haley. “Doctor, focus on Haley. The Alpha will be fine.” “How can you be sure Beta.” “I am sure, Haley healed him.” Dr. Sully appears shocked but quickly recovers to begin examining Haley. “What happened,” asks Dr. Sully. “Alpha was struck by a spell from a dark witch and Haley healed him,” says Nick “We also had a white witch present. Her name was Hope, she put another spell on Haley saying it will slow the dark witch's spell so Haley could heal,” I inform. “So this white witch knew what Haley is. I am assuming she is no longer with us,” asks Dr. Sully. “No, Red Moon killed her. Which reminds me. Harrison?” “Yes Beta?” “Find our best trackers and get a good smell of Hope. Haley I watch in horror as black veins quickly spread throughout Avery’s body all heading towards his heart. I don’t even think as I lean down and kiss him. I don’t know how I am doing it but I can feel a warm flow through me into Avery as something dark and cold enters me. I feel like I am being stabbed from the inside out as the coldness spread throughout my body. “Haley! Stop!” I feel like I am choking on something as I struggle to breath. I feel myself collapse onto the ground as everything fades into black. I feel cold. I hug my knees to my chest trying to get warm as my body shivers uncontrollably. Everywhere I look is pitch black and I can’t even feel Hazel. “Hazel?” There is no reply and I begin to panic. “Hazel!?” This must be it. I died and I am alone. At least I know that means Avery is safe and his life is no longer threatened by my existence. It hurts to know that I’ll never see him again, never hold him in my arms but at least he is alive. I hope he finds a second

Haley “How it all began?” “Yes, it is my fault our family was cursed. My selfishness.” I sit next to Hazel and pay attention to Freya’s story. Not even my mother knew the full story. “Our family originates from Scandinavia. This was a time before Egypt had risen to it’s power. Werewolves were open with humans to what we were. There were about ten small packs throughout the land and one by one we were being conquered by an outsider. A pack that allied itself with dark witches. Our packs were beginning to dwindle so we began to ban together to protect each other. It was at this gathering that led me to my mate, Leif. Let me show you.” The scene around us changes and we are surrounded by snow. There is a huge group of people and wolves in a clearing and I see Freya entranced on a tall, muscular man that must be Leif. Haley The scene is changing before me and it’s utter chaos as wolves and witches are fighting for their lives. The ground is littered with dead bodies and the snow is no longer white but red from all the blood that has been spilt. It’s like a scene out of a war movie. “Dark Moon attacked just as dawn approached. The white witches are not as strong when the sun rises and the dark witches took advantage of this. Even though we united the packs we were still no match for Dark Moon. The white witches were out numbered and only one survived.” I watch as the white witches are slaughtered while Freya explains what is happening. Tears sting my eyes as the youngest white witch scrambles to escape. Many wolves are escaping, fleeing on boats out of the country. They didn’t stand a chance. I watch as Freya is crying, broken from the loss of her mate. “Of those that died, Leif was among them. It broke me. I was angry and I aimed my anger at the moon goddess for not protecting us.” I watch as

Alpha Avery I can tell Haley is going to wake up soon. At least I hope she is going to wake up soon. The waiting has been torture. Two weeks have now gone by, but the black veins are now just at her finger tips. She has stirred a few times in her sleep and even shed a few tears. I don’t know what is going on in her mind but I stay close, hoping she can feel I am here with her. I hope she knows she is not alone. “I’m right here Haley. Please open your eyes love.” Her finger twitches and I jump up in excitement and squeeze her hand. “Haley?” After a few seconds go by I realize she is not going to wake up. I sink back into the chair as tears pool in my eyes. I hear the door open and I wipe away a tear that has fallen. I look behind me and one of my she-wolves has walked in with flowers. “Sorry to disturb you Alpha.
