Chp 12 Pt. 1 The Visitor

I watch in horror as black veins quickly spread throughout Avery’s body all heading towards his heart. I don’t even think as I lean down and kiss him. I don’t know how I am doing it but I can feel a warm flow through me into Avery as something dark and cold enters me. I feel like I am being stabbed from the inside out as the coldness spread throughout my body.

“Haley! Stop!”

I feel like I am choking on something as I struggle to breath. I feel myself collapse onto the ground as everything fades into black. I feel cold. I hug my knees to my chest trying to get warm as my body shivers uncontrollably. Everywhere I look is pitch black and I can’t even feel Hazel.

“Hazel?”

There is no reply and I begin to panic.

“Hazel!?”

This must be it. I died and I am alone. At least I know that means Avery is safe and his life is no longer threatened by my existence. It hurts to know that I’ll never see him again, never hold him in my arms but at least he is alive. I hope he finds a second
