After a night where I managed to relax a little, I decided to go to the hospital early. The meeting with Jonny the night before had not been productive at all. Laura was not at her grandfather's house, according to our informants, and to initiate a rescue mission, I needed to know my daughter's exact location. We would have to be quick and accurate. No chance of defense.

I entered the room and saw that Sara was awake. Matheus was at her side and Simon was holding a glass with a straw, which she sucked. I felt her gaze fall on me.

—I apologize for not making it in time for surgery. How are you? I approached the bed.

— No need to apologize. Simon stayed with me the whole time — she answered without lifting her head.

—I'm calmer.— I swallowed hard. In no time did Simon look at me and it started to bother me. He was visibly embarrassed. That meant Sara was really hitting on him. It wasn't just a jealous fit on my part. It was fact. —Simon, we can talk for a while.
