Mia's POV Gingerly, I get to my feet. This cast on my leg is making it difficult to move around but I eventually get the hang of it. Gently, I pull on Cora's arm. "We have got to get out of here," I beg her to move. "You can do this. We can do this together." Letting go of Cora's arm, it falls lifelessly to her side. She is still sobbing from her interaction with the rogue that was just down here. "What is the point?" Cora sobs barely lifting her head off her legs to talk to me. "I am ruined." "You aren't ruined," I hiss at her. "Now would you get up and help me find a way out of this cell?" "But I am naked," Cora gasps out in shock. "I hate to break it to you but I have already seen you naked. Numerous times. Now get up and help me," I fuss at her but Cora doesn't budge. "Fine," I groan and I take off the sweatshirt that was given to me at the hospital and toss it in Cora's direction. She holds it up with two fingers and a look of disgust on her face, but, eventually s
Mia's POV Donovan is straddling me and it doesn't matter how much I fight against him, I cannot break free. Arching my neck I look up the stairs of the cellar and see Cora looking down horrified. She is frozen with fear and shock once again. No doubt, she is relieving the horrors that she endured earlier in the day. "Run!" I scream up the stairs. "Run and find Dylan." The mention of Dylan seems to snap her out of whatever trance she seems to be trapped in. Cora blinks her eyes several times and she opens her mouth to speak but nothing comes out. "Run!" I shout again as I struggle against Donovan. This time Cora disappears from the top of the stairs. The sound of the shack's door creaking open lets me know that she has left. I am officially on my own. Donovan pins me down with his body and twists my neck to the side. He lets out a vicious growl when he sees the side of my neck. Using two of his fingers he grabs my chin and forces me to look at him. "This could heal like
Thomas's POV We have them on the run. My warriors are under strict instructions to leave no survivors except for women and children. The small amount of forces that I brought with me is more than enough to take down the rogue camp. I am fighting one rogue after another in my human form. Ripping out their hearts and their throats with a single swipe of my claws. Many beg for mercy at my feet and I spare their lives but not before taking them prisoner. Another small rogue rushes toward me in wolf form. He is so small he looks like he just received his wolf and I don't have the heart to kill him. Rearing my hand back, I smack the wolf to the ground. He whimpers as he tries to get back to his feet as I stand over him. "Run," I growl at the small wolf and he tucks his tail between his legs and runs toward the forest. As I am watching the small rogue wolf run away, I notice a head of messy blonde hair hobbling into the trees. She looks behind her and I notice a massive cut acro
Thomas's POV The warrior beside Mia helps her to her feet and steadies her as she hobbles her way across the field. Much to my surprise, Cora comes running in her direction and tackles her with a hug. "Oh, Mia," Cora sobs. "I was so worried." Mia pets the back of Cora's head and quietly whispers to her that she is okay. I watch in stunned silence as the two sisters, who once hated each other, comfort one another. I notice that Cora has silver shackles on her wrists and Mia hiss out in pain when they touch her skin, but it does not stop Mia from hugging her sister. Holding Cora at arm's length, Mia looks her over. Her eyes fall on the cuffs and Mia turns to me. "We have to get these off of her," she says and I don't miss the command in her voice. "But..." I begin to protest but Mia raises an eyebrow at me and I know better than to argue. Taking Cora's hands in my own I pull on the cuffs but they are locked onto her wrists tightly. Extending one of my claws I swipe thr
Mia's POV The ride back to the Red Moon Pack is silent. Dylan is holding Cora in the back seat. Reassuring her that everything will be fine and he loves her no matter what happened to her. My heart swells to hear him speak so sweetly to my sister. After what she has been through she deserves someone who will not judge her for the past mistakes she has made. I catch Thomas looking at the two of them in the rearview mirror from time to time. I can see the jealousy that is building within him. He misses having a fated mate. I thought that he and I would be able to work past the fact that we were not fated mates but now Donovan has ruined everything. Unless we find him I will have no choice but to find my fated mate. As soon as we arrive back in Red Moon territory, Thomas drives right past the pack house. "Where are we going?" I ask as we drive further into the territory. "You both need the hospital," Dylan says, stroking the hair away from Cora's face. "I am fine," I say wit
Thomas's POV Standing in the hallway outside of Mia's room, I am unsure of what I am supposed to do. The pack believes that we are in love and that she is my chosen mate. I feel like we need to keep up the facade until she finds her fated mate or I find Donovan and kill him. The doctor walks out of her room and looks me up and down. "Alpha," he says seriously. "I think you and I should talk." I follow the doctor through the corridors of the hospital to his office. He gestures for me to have a seat inside and shuts the door behind us. "What is it?" I ask the doctor as he takes a seat behind his desk. "I did what I could," he begins. "The cut on her face was deeply infected and her leg was badly broken. Her ribs are tough to look at but will heal on their own." "What do you mean? You did what you could," I ask him. The doctor takes in a sharp breath before speaking again. "Unless we can find her fated mate she will live with a scar on her face and a limp in her step. Ther
Mia's POV I have been stuck in this hospital bed for a week and I am starting to feel crazy. The television in the hospital only gets a few channels and I have watched them all. Thomas has brought me a few movies to watch but the DVD player on the television is broken. The next day he brought me a bunch of cheesy romance novels to read. I try to curl myself up comfortably in my small hospital bed to read one of the books. As I read through the pages I cannot help but roll my eyes. It is a typical romance trope. The girl finds the boy but the boy doesn't want her so she has to seduce him. As much as I hate these kinds of books I am getting to the good part. They are about to have sex. I am so enthralled in the book that I don't hear someone come into my hospital room. "Are you ready for physical therapy," Thomas's voice seems to come from nowhere and it startles me. My whole body flinches and I hiss through the pain. I have been sitting for so long that all of my muscle
Thomas's POV Mia has been attending physical therapy for a week now and I can already see the improvements that she has made with her upper body. She no longer needs a wheelchair to get around. Instead, she can balance herself on crutches. Sitting in the corner of the therapy room, I watch as Mia finishes up her session for the day. Giving Mia a proud pat on the back, the therapist makes his way over to me. "Alpha," he says with a huge smile spread across his lips. "I think the Luna can finally return home to the pack house. She will need help climbing stairs but other than that I think that she should do just fine." I know that I should feel excited over the prospect of Mia returning to the pack house but my heart sinks. I haven't told Mia yet that I moved all of her things out of my bedroom into the room next door. Now that we have to find her fated mate, it no longer feels appropriate to share a room with her. Mia comes hobbling over on her crutches with a giant smil
