CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT

“What did you say?” Alan asked in a stiff voice.

“I said I love you,” She said softly, staring at him.

“You can't love me,” He said in a hard tone laced with warning.

“What can't I?” She asked, sitting up and trying to cover up her nakedness with a duvet.

“Because it will destroy you, don't you get it?” He yelled while she latched her eyes in fear.

“Alan we could try, you can attempt” She said in a pleading tone.

“I can't do it, when did this all start?, when did you start loving me?” He asked, looking into her eyes.

“I don't know how it happened, I just started loving you. I know there is someone good inside you, I loved your cologne, the color of your eyes, the way you talk, and walk, and then I started loving you. Alan, I love you so much, I can't keep it to myself anymore” She said calmly with desperation in her voice.

“No you can't, you need to stop loving me” He said, shaking his head and getting off the bed.
