I swear, I was so shocked that I froze on my spot and tried to reciprocate the kiss the best way I could, so the men could leave us alone. Immediately, the men left, and we broke the kiss, I ran out of the room.
That was one hell of a kiss from a man who had a fiancé already.
(End of flashback)
“Zena you should have told me all this. And I'd have done something to prevent it beforehand,” My mum said weakly as she fell lazily on the couch.“I'm sorry mum, I'm sorry,” I pleaded, and she sighed pathetically, I guess she was also feeling sorry for me.
Mother squatted down, and she placed her palm on my cheek,
“I am your mother, Zena, it hurts me to know you're keeping things from me, especially something this important. You quit working at the Veju Restaurant and you didn't even give me your reasons,”
I bowed my head in shame, she has gone so much for me and this was how I could repay her.
“It's fine Zena, I'll try to understand you,” she said and stood up, hanging her bag on her shoulder, she added,
“Since you're pregnant, you won't be coming with me today, you will need to rest,” but I hurriedly stood up, and quickly refused.
“Mum, you need money for our daily expenses, and your salary isn't enough to pay the bill, remember? That's why I decided to work with you, so we'll have enough. Now that I'm pregnant, I don't want to be a burden to you, I can still work”
“Stay at home Zena,” the way she said it, I knew it was an order and not to be argued about
“I'll work things out myself. You should also know you'll never be a burden to me,” She said, and she left immediately.
Deep down, I know she was trying to be strong for me. Hiding her feelings just to make me happy. I won't let Mother suffer.
I ran to my room, took my bag and left the house.
An hour later, I hurriedly walked into the huge building, heading to the cleaners' quarter. My mum was actually working at HB Technical Enterprise. She worked as a cleaner in the company, so after I left my former job, I had to start working with her also, as a cleaner.
This was the only profitable job we could do, since the pay was good. I sighed when I saw some people gathered in front of the stairs, I quickly rushed to them, wondering what was going on. I scoffed when I saw a notice that the stairs had an issue, and it needed to be fixed.
Gosh, this is something I didn't expect. I was already running late, and they expected me to wait until the stairs would be fixed. That annoying lady would have replaced me by then.
I angrily left the place, heading to the elevator, even though I knew it was against the rules for commoners like me to pass through the elevator. But I was willing to risk it, I pray I don't get caught.
Not long after, I stood in front of the elevator and I stared around, hoping no one was around the area because I'll easily get caught because of my cheap clothes.
Seeing no one was around the area, I made to get inside the elevator, but someone beat me to it, and it was definitely a man, even if I couldn't see his face clearly.
The elevator was about to close, but I quickly squeezed myself in, and the door immediately closed after me.
I released a huge sigh of relief, hopefully, I won't lose my job. My heart was still racing, and I hoped it didn't affect my baby, my hand moved on its own accord to my stomach.
The man stood beside me, with his fragrance and aura he was definitely a man from a higher class, not some paupers like myself. I sighed.
I tried stretching my neck, so I could see his face. Seriously, I need to control my eyes around people, I thought, and I decided to focus on why I came here.
I became humming to myself just to keep myself busy, not until his phone rang, then I heard the voice I'll never forget in a hurry.
“Alicia, I know you've missed me a lot, don't worry, I'll be in my office soon,” The man said with a laugh lingering in his voice and I immediately ran in front of him with a shocked expression on my face.
“You!” I pointed out.
His mouth was opened in awe as he stared at me.
“How… how did you get…”
Suddenly, the elevator started making funny sounds, as though it was about to fall. My heart began to pound faster than before. I snapped my eyes to look at the man who had dropped his phone, causing it to break. I saw how he held his neck, struggling to breathe.
I swiftly turned and began to press the buttons continuously, hoping the door would open, but it didn't.
“Argghh!” I screamed as the elevator shook, and I fell heavily on the floor. I felt excruciating pains all over my back as I tried to stand up, but I ended up falling flat on the floor.
“Whosoever is in there should please be calm, we're coming to get you out. We're trying to fix the situation,” I heard a voice say from outside, and I tried to stay calm, even if the place was kind of becoming scary. I was still in deep thought when I heard someone whimpering beside me.
I quickly turned and was shocked when I saw he was sitting on the floor with his face buried in the ground, not to talk of how he was shivering and shaking vigorously.
He clutched onto his chest with sweat all over his face. The two first buttons of his shirt were now left undone, he wasn't this way before. I didn't need anyone to tell me what was happening to him. He's scared of closure, he is a claustrophobic patient.
I quickly crawled towards him and hugged him tightly to myself, trying to make sure he was safe from the attack. He hugged me back tightly, and I let out a groan when the sharp pain hit me again.
“Are you okay?” I asked him, but no words came out, making me worried.
“Hey!” I snapped at him, but he still wouldn't say a word. Just when I decided to break the hug, there was a loud creak of iron from the elevator, and before I knew it, the elevator was rustling heavily down, and I let out a scream as I thought it was the end for me.
Well, it might just be.
My baby!
Zena's POV“You need to be strong, Zena.” I kept telling myself while I ran down the corridor. Yes, I needed to be strong. I had to push on to escape death and also to keep my unborn child. I fear those people will catch up with me. I kept running as fast as my feet could carry me, but I was getting weaker. My legs were wobbling, and I knew I had to do something instantly. My eyes turned watery and my breath seizing, just then, I heard a voice echoing my name in my head like someone was calling out to me. I let my head roam around the entire corridor to see who it was, but there was no one there.“Zena!” I heard my name again and my eyes snapped open. My breathing became faster than before, and I opened up my mouth to exhale air, choking in the process. “Zena! Zena, you're awake!” I heard my mom's crying voice and I veered my head to the side to see her beside me.I was still confused since some minutes ago I was running, but then I found myself laying on the bed again, “Thank God,
Zena's POV I shut the door almost immediately, using the auto lock in the process to avoid them catching up with me while I looked for the exact room where the father of my baby was. I could hear the voice of my mother and the doctor cursing words as I began to search through the rooms, looking through the transparent doors to look for him. I was told it was two wards beside mine, but I had no idea where exactly it was. I ran over to the two wards away from me on the right side, and when I peeped through, I sighted no one there. I didn't wait a second before I hauled to the ward in front of the second ward to check, but it still wasn't. So, I ran my way back to the left and as I peeped into it, I sighted him and I paused. He was right there, laying on the hospital bed.I turned on the doorknob, pushed it opened, and went in. The first thing I did was use the auto lock, knowing fully well that I was soon to be dragged out. I let out a heavy sigh and leaned on the door to inhale air
Zena Pov's My eyes slowly opened, and the awful smell of medicines hit me hard, I needed no one to tell me where I was. Because the image of what happened was still stuck in my head.“What's the meaning of the stunt you pulled out there Zena?” I turned and I saw it was my mother, she was actually sitting beside me.I stared at her, but I said nothing as I shifted my gaze away from her, I should be angry at her for ruining the only chance I had to talk to my baby’s daddy.“Talk to me Zena,” My mother stated, but the silence was still there. Deep down I hoped and prayed he didn't reject me, but he was only trying to think things through.“Do you know the stunt you pulled out there could cost me my job?” She asked and that was when she started getting my attention.“Cost her job?” I rephase in my head, not getting what she meant. She doesn't even know that man, how come what I did was affecting her greatly.“I ain't letting this slide Zena. Talk to…” Her words were halted when the door
Justin Pov’sWalking out of her ward, I had a mix feelings. It wasn't just about all what she said, but it was all about me.Been a claustrophobia dosen't mean I can't take care of her or my unborn child. We both made the mistake so I shouldn't be criticized for it.She should take the highest part of the responsibilities because I kissed her and she reciprocated, she should have pushed me away and I would have come back to my senses, thereby realizing she's not Alicia. But I was trying to make things easier for the both of us. At the same time I wasn't ready to inform Alicia about this, it'll hurt her badly.“Baby,” I heard Alicia called and I smiled, recognizing her voice already. Finally, someone is here to make me forget the so-called lady who's carrying my child.“Hi babe,” I smiled as I walked to her.She ran to me and she pulled me into her arms. “Goodness babe, I was so scared when your mum called, she told me you fainted inside the elevator,” She said worriedly and I sighed.
Justin POV’s The air around us became tense the moment I said that, silence followed as we both kept quiet, staring at each other. I knew Alicia had much to say, but was she buckling it all in? Has answering a phone call now turned into a crime? Or a crime I didn’t know about. For what seemed like forever, she finally decided to speak. But my breathe hitched, hoping she wouldn’t say anything that’ll jeopardize our relationship, or something that’ll hurt my feelings.“You’d have the answer that? Justin we’re in the middle of something! Are you saying you’d leave me like this?” Alicia asked but I said nothing, instead I slowly stood up and I took her phone. It was my secretary calling, I had to pick up because it might be important since he called twice.“Hello,” I said immediately as I picked up.“Sir the Board Directors are already here, they’ve been requesting to see you, I’ve been able to hold them in for an hour now, but things are getting pretty serious now,” He stated and I sighe
Zena POV’sAs the sun shine brightly against the surface of the earth. I sat down, together with my luggage, waiting for my mother to get ready.I couldn't deny that it was one colourful morning, the dazzling blue cloud made it more beautiful. This is the morning my whole life would change. The place I knew as my home would no longer be my home, only the thought of it gave me an unfathomable feelings.I wanted to be strong, knowing fully well that i’d be able to pull it off. My Father's early demise didn't shake me off, or brought my spirit down, so this shouldn't be an issue.I finished my studies, graduated in flying colors, I studied Business administration and I was the best in my class, but after everything I still couldn't get a job, thereby finding myself at Veju Restaurant. My past should be the only thing that fueled my spirit to conquer my present. I am not backing out from this, for my sake, and for my unborn child’s sake. “You should know you're a part of the Sean’s fami
Zena POV’sMy mouth was opened in awe as I stared at the magnificent building in front of me. It was different from every mansion I’ve ever laid my eyes on.The interior and exterior decor was more than words could express. I was expecting something huge, but this beat all of my expectations.I was just staring at this outside and it is this good, what would the inside look like? Gosh I didn’t even what to think about it.“Let’s go in,” Justin said, and that was when I knew he was standing beside me.The driver rolled my luggage out of the car, as he took it inside the mansion. I was surprised when the maids came out, making a straight line, as they all bent their head.“Good day sir,” They all said in unison and I stared around in surprise. “They all just lined up just to greet him? Really? Is this how it works around her?” I mentally asked myself.“Let’s go in,” He said beside me as he started off. I sighed then I went after him, they all just greeted him yet he didn’t respond to t
Zena POV's I didn't need anyone to tell me what to do next. This wasn't how I imagined my life to be even at the slightest moment, I didn't want my baby's daddy and his mum to have any issue all because of me.Just as I was about to say I'll be willing to leave, the guards rushed in, and they immediately grabbed me.“Let me go!” I yelled, struggling to break free, this was worse than every insult I've received over the years, she just made me feel like a nobody.“Let her go! Now!!” Justin yelled, and the guards immediately freed me.“You guys can leave, you're not needed here,” He added and the guards bow and they left.“What the hell are you doing son? Challenging me because of this bitch!” She yelled, breathing heavily, while I stood, watching her as she dragged me to the mud.“Mum since the very day you gave birth to me, I've never done anything against your will, not even once. But this time around, if you can't do the same for me, just this once. I'm afraid I'll have to make a d
