I opened my eyes, my head aching terrible and the sun happened to be directly on my face. I shielded my eyes by covering my eyes with my arms.
'Ouch!! Darn it!' I cursed tiredly, over and over in my head, as I blinked rapidly, trying to relieve myself.
As I slowly adjusted to the light. I realized I was staring at a ceiling that wasn't one I recognized. It was totally different from the one I had at home, neither was it the same as the one I normally sleep at work during my shifts.
“Where am I?” The thought immediately came to my mind, and my brows furrowed, trying to recall the last thing that happened the previous night. I sat up tiredly, feeling sore in between my thighs and wondering why, when I realized I wasn't the only one in this strange bed, in this strange room.
And as a matter of fact, I was naked! I gulped.
My eyes widened as I spotted him, a muscular image laying beside me. I pushed myself up in a hurry, my heart pounding loudly in my chest.
It didn't take me long to realize, just looking at the state of both our naked, sweaty bodies… what had happened.
I had just slept with a complete stranger. It fucking had sex with a stranger! It's not like I'm a virgin or anything, but how the hell did I end up there?!?
Slowly, it began to dawn on me that I had actually run into this room last night while I was being chased by those men.
I sat there confused as I stared at the man, I didn't know what to do at the moment as I was utterly confused.
I didn't know how long I sat staring at him, but I noticed how he stirred a bit, and he adjusted on the bed. Was he going to wake up now? Would he see me like this?!
I couldn't help it, I panicked as I stared around, not knowing what to do.I have to leave before he wakes up. He should not see me here, or I was dead! How the hell would I explain what actually happened? I was too tired to even think. And to wrap it up, it wasn't his fault but mine that I had rushed into his room last night.
I slowly got out of bed and began to dress up as quickly as I could. Picking up my shoes, and putting them on, I walked to the door, just as I was about to open it only to hear,
“Where are you going, Alicia?” His hoarse manly voice said, and I cursed under my breath.
'Alicia again? Who the hell is Alicia?' I wondered.
Just as if my body were working on its own accord, I didn't know what I was doing, but I turned to face him.
The moment he saw me, he blinked his eyes rapidly as though he were waving the effect of sleep on his eyes, or he couldn't see clearly.
“Who are you?” He asked, confused. But that was the question I wanted to ask him as well.
'Who am I? Really?' I mentally scoffed as I stared at him in disbelief. He stared at me waiting for an answer from me, but I was mute wondering how to explain myself to him.
“How did you get in here?” He asked, and I felt like slapping the hell outta him when I recalled he was the one who started this whole shit last night, and my dizzy self couldn't resist him. Plus, he has the charm.
'Shut up Zena' I scolded myself
He didn't wait for me to respond to his questions, as he began to murmur to himself confusedly,
“I thought Alicia came last night, how come I'm seeing you here?” I knew all this was a misunderstanding and wanted to explain it to him, but he spoke again.
“Did you see any woman leaving this room? And how come you're here?” He asked again, making me roll my eyes at him. His numerous questions were beginning to piss me off.
I just needed to straighten things up before it gets out of hand but first,
“Who's Alicia?” I found myself asking, which made me sound like a jealous lover, but I didn't give a damn, I needed to clear my head before it ended up exploding.
“Alicia is my fiancé,” He said, and I immediately felt a huge lump in my throat.
“Fian… fiancé?” I asked only to see him nod.
'Oh God, How the hell did he mistake me for her?' I mentally asked myself, raising my brows up as a signal for him to go on.
A few minutes later, we were both seated on the bed quietly, as though we didn't have anything else to do with ourselves. I thought about everything he'd just told me. Thankfully, he was now fully dressed, so I didn't have to feel uncomfortable.
I let out a frustrated sigh after listening to his own explanation. Darn it! He was actually a drunk lover waiting for his fiancé to arrive for them to have a good time together, but she didn't show up, and I unknowingly rushed in, giving myself a free meal for him.
Things only got worst!
He was also quiet after I told him my side of the story, but I didn't tell him about what I overheard the scary man say. I didn't know who he was and if he would hand me over to the men.“I'm sorry,” We both apologized simultaneously, making me let out a small laugh. Actually, none of it was our fault, it just so happened that we were both not in the right state of mind when it happened.
I was about to say something to him when his phone rang. He gave me a weird look, making me raise my brow, but he finally picked,
“Hi, baby!"
'Oh,' I see why he gave me that look now.
“Sorry I couldn't make it, I got stuck in traffic, so I had to go back home. I tried calling your number, but it was unreachable,” I heard a high-pitched voice saying over the phone, and I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me it was his fiancé.
The strange man beside me sighed pathetically knowing her excuses did not mean anything, for now, it was all useless. Literally, she's the cause of all this, someone needs to take a fall for this, and it's definitely her.
“It's fine, I'll talk to you later,” The man said, and he ended the call.
I just had to put myself together, the did has already been down, no need to wallow over the past.
“I'll leave now, I pray we never see each other again because it's kind of embarrassing,” I said sincerely, and I stood up to leave, but we suddenly heard a loud bang on the door and I flinched.
“We're looking for a thief, she stole something from the boss, and we were asked to search all over the rooms,” These were the words of those men and I panicked, my heart was already beating faster than usual.
I stared at the strange man, pleading with my eyes, and the next thing he did was shocking. He walked over to me and kissed me.
Zena POVI swear, I was so shocked that I froze on my spot and tried to reciprocate the kiss the best way I could, so the men could leave us alone. Immediately, the men left, and we broke the kiss, I ran out of the room. That was one hell of a kiss from a man who had a fiancé already. (End of flashback)“Zena you should have told me all this. And I'd have done something to prevent it beforehand,” My mum said weakly as she fell lazily on the couch. “I'm sorry mum, I'm sorry,” I pleaded, and she sighed pathetically, I guess she was also feeling sorry for me.Mother squatted down, and she placed her palm on my cheek,“I am your mother, Zena, it hurts me to know you're keeping things from me, especially something this important. You quit working at the Veju Restaurant and you didn't even give me your reasons,” I bowed my head in shame, she has gone so much for me and this was how I could repay her. “It's fine Zena, I'll try to understand you,” she said and stood up, hanging her bag o
Zena's POV“You need to be strong, Zena.” I kept telling myself while I ran down the corridor. Yes, I needed to be strong. I had to push on to escape death and also to keep my unborn child. I fear those people will catch up with me. I kept running as fast as my feet could carry me, but I was getting weaker. My legs were wobbling, and I knew I had to do something instantly. My eyes turned watery and my breath seizing, just then, I heard a voice echoing my name in my head like someone was calling out to me. I let my head roam around the entire corridor to see who it was, but there was no one there.“Zena!” I heard my name again and my eyes snapped open. My breathing became faster than before, and I opened up my mouth to exhale air, choking in the process. “Zena! Zena, you're awake!” I heard my mom's crying voice and I veered my head to the side to see her beside me.I was still confused since some minutes ago I was running, but then I found myself laying on the bed again, “Thank God,
Zena's POV I shut the door almost immediately, using the auto lock in the process to avoid them catching up with me while I looked for the exact room where the father of my baby was. I could hear the voice of my mother and the doctor cursing words as I began to search through the rooms, looking through the transparent doors to look for him. I was told it was two wards beside mine, but I had no idea where exactly it was. I ran over to the two wards away from me on the right side, and when I peeped through, I sighted no one there. I didn't wait a second before I hauled to the ward in front of the second ward to check, but it still wasn't. So, I ran my way back to the left and as I peeped into it, I sighted him and I paused. He was right there, laying on the hospital bed.I turned on the doorknob, pushed it opened, and went in. The first thing I did was use the auto lock, knowing fully well that I was soon to be dragged out. I let out a heavy sigh and leaned on the door to inhale air
Zena Pov's My eyes slowly opened, and the awful smell of medicines hit me hard, I needed no one to tell me where I was. Because the image of what happened was still stuck in my head.“What's the meaning of the stunt you pulled out there Zena?” I turned and I saw it was my mother, she was actually sitting beside me.I stared at her, but I said nothing as I shifted my gaze away from her, I should be angry at her for ruining the only chance I had to talk to my baby’s daddy.“Talk to me Zena,” My mother stated, but the silence was still there. Deep down I hoped and prayed he didn't reject me, but he was only trying to think things through.“Do you know the stunt you pulled out there could cost me my job?” She asked and that was when she started getting my attention.“Cost her job?” I rephase in my head, not getting what she meant. She doesn't even know that man, how come what I did was affecting her greatly.“I ain't letting this slide Zena. Talk to…” Her words were halted when the door
Justin Pov’sWalking out of her ward, I had a mix feelings. It wasn't just about all what she said, but it was all about me.Been a claustrophobia dosen't mean I can't take care of her or my unborn child. We both made the mistake so I shouldn't be criticized for it.She should take the highest part of the responsibilities because I kissed her and she reciprocated, she should have pushed me away and I would have come back to my senses, thereby realizing she's not Alicia. But I was trying to make things easier for the both of us. At the same time I wasn't ready to inform Alicia about this, it'll hurt her badly.“Baby,” I heard Alicia called and I smiled, recognizing her voice already. Finally, someone is here to make me forget the so-called lady who's carrying my child.“Hi babe,” I smiled as I walked to her.She ran to me and she pulled me into her arms. “Goodness babe, I was so scared when your mum called, she told me you fainted inside the elevator,” She said worriedly and I sighed.
Justin POV’s The air around us became tense the moment I said that, silence followed as we both kept quiet, staring at each other. I knew Alicia had much to say, but was she buckling it all in? Has answering a phone call now turned into a crime? Or a crime I didn’t know about. For what seemed like forever, she finally decided to speak. But my breathe hitched, hoping she wouldn’t say anything that’ll jeopardize our relationship, or something that’ll hurt my feelings.“You’d have the answer that? Justin we’re in the middle of something! Are you saying you’d leave me like this?” Alicia asked but I said nothing, instead I slowly stood up and I took her phone. It was my secretary calling, I had to pick up because it might be important since he called twice.“Hello,” I said immediately as I picked up.“Sir the Board Directors are already here, they’ve been requesting to see you, I’ve been able to hold them in for an hour now, but things are getting pretty serious now,” He stated and I sighe
Zena POV’sAs the sun shine brightly against the surface of the earth. I sat down, together with my luggage, waiting for my mother to get ready.I couldn't deny that it was one colourful morning, the dazzling blue cloud made it more beautiful. This is the morning my whole life would change. The place I knew as my home would no longer be my home, only the thought of it gave me an unfathomable feelings.I wanted to be strong, knowing fully well that i’d be able to pull it off. My Father's early demise didn't shake me off, or brought my spirit down, so this shouldn't be an issue.I finished my studies, graduated in flying colors, I studied Business administration and I was the best in my class, but after everything I still couldn't get a job, thereby finding myself at Veju Restaurant. My past should be the only thing that fueled my spirit to conquer my present. I am not backing out from this, for my sake, and for my unborn child’s sake. “You should know you're a part of the Sean’s fami
Zena POV’sMy mouth was opened in awe as I stared at the magnificent building in front of me. It was different from every mansion I’ve ever laid my eyes on.The interior and exterior decor was more than words could express. I was expecting something huge, but this beat all of my expectations.I was just staring at this outside and it is this good, what would the inside look like? Gosh I didn’t even what to think about it.“Let’s go in,” Justin said, and that was when I knew he was standing beside me.The driver rolled my luggage out of the car, as he took it inside the mansion. I was surprised when the maids came out, making a straight line, as they all bent their head.“Good day sir,” They all said in unison and I stared around in surprise. “They all just lined up just to greet him? Really? Is this how it works around her?” I mentally asked myself.“Let’s go in,” He said beside me as he started off. I sighed then I went after him, they all just greeted him yet he didn’t respond to t
