Baby Talk

Emile was in total shock.

Both Carrie and Emile had always said they wouldn’t have kids. They didn’t want to continue the cycle they had been born into. They didn’t feel the need to continue their legacy when it was such a toxic one.

“What?” Sienna whispered. “Really?”

Carrie and Jason nodded enthusiastically. “That’s why we wanted you to come over. We’re gonna be parents.”

“Oh my god, Carrie! That’s amazing!” Emile reached across the table and grabbed her hand. “Are you excited?”

“Actually yes I am! I can’t believe it, but this is actually something that I want.” Carrie admitted.

“Uncle Emile…wow that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

“It sure does,” Jason grinned. “I’m hoping for a boy.”

“Honestly me too,” Carrie giggled. “And I hope he looks just like you.”

Carrie and Jason kissed each other happily and Sienna felt a strange pull of jealousy. Why couldn’t she and Emile be that happy? When was the last time they were both excited for something in their marriage?
