Zach was sent to the first aid office within an hour of starting work by Becca who was concerned about his cheek and his constant winces. The swelling had gone down overnight, but the red colour remained and the small cut in the centre was still visibly fresh.

The first aid department disinfected the cut and gave him a simple painkiller to take. He had been told to see a doctor if there was no improvement and to leave work early if that pain was too much.

The intern was determined to work through the discomfort. He was helping Robert out with a work that was very close to the publishing deadline and he didn’t want to abandon the older editor.
