Lily's POV
"Can you move away from me?" Derek asked. He was angry, his jaws clenched as he pushed me away from him. His shirt was moist with my tears at the spot where I'd held him.
I don't know why I do that because I don't normally do that. I hated being in close proximity with people.
"Sorry, sorry about that, I don't want to, I didn't know.. I don't really," I stuttered, too scared to process what I wanted to say.
"Can you just shut up for five seconds?" He yelled. I shivered at the intensity of his words.
"Sorry,"
"Stop saying sorry, I don't want to hear that motherfucking word from your mouth," He groaned and walked away from me.
It took me a minute to settle down and control my emotions but still, few tears leaked out of my face. I felt strangulated, tired and weak.
I watched as Derek walked out of the kitchen with a cup of water and a bottle of water, he poured water into the cup and drank from it before dropping both the cup and bottle on the table.
"What happened?" Derek asked. "What happened to the lights? I don't remember putting them out before I left," he asked.
I shook my head not ready to talk about it. If I explained what had happened, he would probably call me crazy. It was complicated, too complicated to talk about.
"Now, she's deaf and she can't speak," He spat angrily.
As he walked away to his room, he removed his shirt on the way, showing me his naked back.
"Fuck!" He spat as he walked away.
Mrs. Miller had already told me to use the room next to Derek's room. I'd made sure to clean the room up after he left angrily this afternoon. It wasn't dirty but I needed to fix a few things.
I walked into the room, closed the door behind me. I rummaged through my boxes to find my small flashlight before I switched off the light and laid on the bed, before ten minutes, I passed out as a light.
The next morning, I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth before leaving the room. It was a Sunday morning and I still can't believe I slept so well during the night. As I stepped out of the room, I could see Derek entering his room, he was shirtless as always but sweaty.
I don't think he saw me.
"When are you leaving?" He suddenly asked, opening his door wide. I guess I spoke too soon, he saw me.
"Mrs. Miller didn't mention that to me," I responded.
"Leave my mom out of this. When do you want to leave?" He asked, trying to reason with me. I'm not stupid.
"Would you care for breakfast? I could cook something for us," I changed the topic.
He glared at me before walking into his room and shutting his door angrily making me jump at a spot.
I walked into the kitchen to actually and really prepare something for the first time in my life. I stared at the gas cooker for minutes. When I realized how hopeless I was, I picked up my phone to try and browse it out.
The phone suddenly rang. It was Mrs. Miller.
"Good morning, my beautiful Lily," Mrs. Miller sang.
"Good morning Mrs. Miller," I replied with a smile. She always knew how to make me happy and I was glad I met her.
"How was your first night?" She asked.
"It was okay,"
"Are you sure about that? Derek didn't do anything to hurt you,"
"I thought you said he wouldn't hurt me,"
"I'm just making sure honey. I'll come see you by tomorrow and if you need anything before then, just let me know,"
"Can you please tell Derek to change the lights?"
There was silence. "Ooh, I'm so sorry Lily, I forgot. I'll mention it to him. You should take care, alright?"
"You too, Mrs. Miller,"
The call ended. I dropped the phone and walked back into the kitchen. I picked up an apple and a fruit juice from the fridge settling in that as my breakfast. I sat and began eating.
Derek walked downstairs and removed water from his fridge. He stood in front of me and stared me down. I knew what he was doing, he was trying to intimidate me into leaving and it was working.
He looked like he was going to kill me or sell me off to a vampire.
"I don't like you," he stated. "You're not my type,"
"If by type, do you mean the ones Mrs Miller told me you love?"
He snickered.
"I knew you've been pretending, so you have a smart mouth. That makes me hate you more,"
Hate! I've heard that word more than a hundred times during my lifetime and I'm not supposed to be bothered but the way he said it was horrible.
"But Mrs. Miller wanted me here,"
At that minute, his phone rang.
"Speak of the devil," he mumbled under his breath.
"WHAT?" he yelled at the person on the other end of the line.
After a few seconds, he said, "So you want me to actually change the lights in my home because of a stranger," he yelled.
The person must have said something because he paused. "I don't give a fuck. It's none of my business. If she's uncomfortable with it, take her away from my house," he screamed again.
"Do I look like I care? How's that any of my business? I didn't ask you to bring her to my house. Don't you dare mom? Don't you fucking dare send Arianna to my house because ive been plotting her death all night, don't make me do it?" He threatened while yelling at the top of his voice.
I smiled sadly when I realized Mrs. Miller might have told him my secret.
.I gasped when he suddenly threw his phone against the wall, yelling in the process. He was like a wild animal at loose.
He turned to look at me and I shivered at the intensity of his glare. His eyes spoke more words than his mouth did. He hated my guts and he wanted to get rid of me but before then…
"You owe me an additional 4$ Mr. Miller"
I informed him.
"What the fuck?" He asked, his back straightening.
"Eight dollars in total, you've used the f word four times now,"
His mouth dropped open, his forehead creased, he clicked his tongue. "You're fucking crazy,"
Lily’s POV“Good morning, Lily right?” A beautiful brunette asked as she waltzed into Derek’s home like she owned the place. She didn’t act like a visitor and that made me wonder who she was. She didn’t bother to knock as well, she just walked in.“Yes,” I replied, not sure if I should be replying or asking her who she was. Derek was currently in his room after throwing an unnecessary tantrum because his mother asked him to change the lights in his house. After calling me crazy, he barged out of the house, came back a few minutes later, and hadn’t come out of his room yet.“I’m Arianna, Derek’s cousin,” She finally introduced herself and I nodded.“I’m lily,” I informed her. She immediately smiled at me, telling me she knew who I was and that it was Mrs. Miller who sent her to the house.“Where’s D
Derek’s POVIt was Monday morning and for the first time, I was doing the unexpected. I drove to my dad’s office based on the stupid contract agreement that I signed foolishly. If Henry and Sebastian hear about this, they won’t let it go until they grill me till I’m burnt. “Good morning dad,” I entered his office unannounced. He looked up from his table and pointed towards the door, “Go back to the door and knock like a responsible human,” He demanded. I glared at him before smirking and walking outside his office. I knocked twice and he asked me to come in. “Good morning, son. When your mother told me you’ll be at the office today, I was surprised. What’s going on? Did your nightclubs business fold up,” I sat down opposite him after drawing out the chair. “I’m a competent businessman, my clubs can never fold up. I built it up with nobody’s help, trust me, I know how to handle myself,” I informed h
LILY’S POV After the first time, I tried to cook for Derek and he yelled at my face, I stopped trying to please him. It was evident that he’s a naturally angry man and he gets angry for a living. If he’s to get paid for the number of times he got angry since I came here, he would probably own two houses on this street and not one. It was Saturday night and just like Friday night, Derek had left the house around 6 in the evening, the only difference was his dressing, he dressed casually on Friday but today, he dressed like he had an event he would be attending. I could finally turn the lights on as I wasn’t sensitive to these types of lights. I sat on the couch with a bowl of popcorn to watch one of my favorite shows. It was a marathon night by the way. I was on the third episode when my phone started ringing. I rushed towards the dining area where the phone was and saw it was Mrs. Miller.
Derek’s POV “What’s up with you, Derek?” Henry Salvatore, my second best friend asked. He’s probably my favorite person after Sebastian but there are times when I want to just strangle him and today is one of those days.“You can’t just barge into my office to ask me a stupid question, Henry. Courtesy demand you knock,” I spat. I was angry, really angry. I’ve been avoiding my parents since Saturday night because I know what they wanted to say.I’d attended Lucas’ welcome back party with Sebastian and Henry with the intention of having a good time without any troubles and leaving the party if possible, without having a confrontation with Lucas but that never happened because trouble seems to follow me everywhere I go. Heck! It probably put a tracker on me.“Since when did we start being so official?” he asked. I didn’t give him
Derek’s POV ‘God, please, don’t tell me she’s waiting for me,’I mumbled under my breath as I walked down the stairs the next morning to find Lily waiting for me. She was sitting with her back facing me on one of the chairs in the dining area. I didn’t get the chance to tell her I wouldn’t be taking her to college this morning because, by the time I returned last night, she was already sleeping. I groaned as I took every step closer to her.I might have stupidly signed up for marriage but babysitting is not something I’m up for. I fucking hate responsibilities. She stood up and turned to face me as I walked closer to her. She was putting on a cute outfit. I still don’t know how but she looked a little different.“Mrs. Miller told me you’ll drop me off at school today,” She informed me about my most hated duty.&
Lily’s POV I was surprised when Derek called me and asked about my whereabouts. I’d been home all day. After he left angrily this morning, I went up to bed and refused to attend college or even leave the room, some of his words hurt me and they brought back dark and horrible memories. Instead of crying, I slept throughout the day, hoping by the time I woke up the next morning, I would’ve forgotten everything that happened the previous day. I didn’t expect it’ll be Derek’s call that’ll wake me up.The door of my room was suddenly opened and I sat up on the bed, shocked at the intrusion and wondering who could’ve entered without knocking. I didn’t get to wonder for too long before the sailor started his favorite occupation.“Why the fuck is this place dark?” Derek spat. I put on the flashlight so he could put on the light.“You didn’t
Lily’s POVThroughout the rest of the week, Derek dropped me off at school in the morning, while I find my way home together with Scarlet in the afternoon and sometimes in the evening. It was peaceful that way since I would be asleep before Derek gets back from work and the ride was usually occupied with a business conversation between Derek and someone on the phone or Q. I and Scarlet usually stay behind sometime after classes to tour around the college or get Lunch at a fancy restaurant a few meters away from college.Bad enough, I was still living off the Millers’ credit card. The best part was, Scarlet lived on the same street as I did. She had invited me over to her place on Friday but I lied that I had something to do. I felt it was too early for such an invitation, we’ve barely known each other for three days.I didn’t have any classes on Friday so I d
LILYS POVAfter I woke up the next morning, I did some laundry, made myself some toasted bread and a cup of coffee. As I sat on the dining table, eating, Derek walked out of his room, shirtless again with black loose pants.I quickly looked away from him and focused on my phone as I absentmindedly read through the banter going on in the class study group that was created. Someone had called the other a dummy and they were busy assessing how stupid they were in their respective families. He walked past me into the kitchen and a few minutes later, came back with his own cup of coffee. I was surprised to see him sit opposite me.I quickly stood up, washed my plate in the kitchen, and took my mug of coffee to the living room. I still had some assignments to fix. So I sat in front of the center table and opened my laptop. The mug was beside me while I searched through my bag for a pen and paper.
