White lies

"Mummy, aren't you going to tell us about Daddy?" Autumn brought up the same issue that Ava had been trying to avoid for days, at the dining table when they were eating breakfast.

Ava almost choked on the pasta that she was eating immediately she heard her little daughter question her, and quickly grabbed a glass of water to suppress the food remnants that were stuck in her throat.

"We have lost contact for a long time. I have been trying to reach out to him," Ava faked a smile as she told her white lies to her daughter, who looked so innocently at her while listening to what her mother had to say.

She felt so bad within her for having to tell her children that she couldn't find their dad, but to her, it was the best excuse she could give them in the meantime. She knew that she would have no more excuses as they increased in age.

However, Autumn was not ready to let go of the discussion just yet.

"What about the man in the picture? Do you not know him? Evan kinda looks like him
