CHAPTER 3

SIERRA'S POV

It's already 6:30 in the evening when we arrive at the front yard of the pack house. I just sent a text message to Asher informing him that my family and I were already here.

"Seems like everybody is excited for the future Alpha," my mother commented as she looked around the front yard.

"Of course. Everybody is looking forward to seeing how great Asher would be once he shifted," my father said wearing a big smile on his face.

I just nodded. It's true. This might be one of the greatest events in a pack. Alpha Julius is a great leader and he maintained the peace and harmony within our group. He also built a group of great warriors that protects us from rogues. That's why sometimes, Asher felt pressured as everybody was expecting that he would become a great leader also. As for me, I do not doubt that he will become successful also. He was trained and born to be a great Alpha.

I took a glance at my phone when it started ringing. I smiled when I saw the name of Asher on my screen.

"Hi, Ash," I quickly answered.

"Hi, baby. Happy birthday to us!" he greeted.

"Happy birthday! So, are you ready?" I asked with excitement in my voice. I want to be as cheerful as I can be so he won't feel my nervousness.

"Of course. I want to see you because I missed you already. But Mom and Dad won't allow me to go out. They said I need to wait until they announced my name in front of the whole pack," he said in dismay.

"You know that's the tradition, right? It's your night, future Alpha. Just enjoy it, okay?" I told him in my calm voice.

"Yeah. How I wish you were here beside me, my future Luna."

'My future Luna'. It was like an herbal oil that soothed my skin. It calms my nerves, but why do I have a feeling that something is not right? Don't get me wrong. I want to be a Luna because I am looking forward to my future with Asher. I can't imagine that I will be mated with another guy. I only want Asher, but why do I have a bad feeling? I don't know. I am confused.

"See you soon, Ash," I just said.

"I love you so much, baby. Always remember that."

"I love you too."

I dropped the call. Mom and Dad were already sitting at the table we were assigned to. I looked up in the sky and saw the moon was already starting to rise. I quickly close my eyes.

'Moon Goddess, you already know what's the desire of my heart. I will entrust my whole life with you. So please, guide me.'

I went to my parents when I saw Alpha and Luna standing on the balcony of the pack house. Alpha Julius is shouting authority without even saying a word while Luna Ferran is so gorgeous. They were a perfect couple and I wish Asher and I would be the same.

"Good evening! Being the Alpha of Lennon's Pack, I am much anticipating the shifting of my only son, Asher. I know that all of you were very excited as I am. But before I present to you our future Alpha, I want to call my Beta's daughter, Sierra, to join us here on the balcony."

I was shocked when Alpha Julius said those words. I wasn't expecting that they would call me to join them. All eyes were on me, and my parents were smiling widely. I silently stood up and walked towards the Alpha and Luna.

"Happy birthday, Sierra," Luna Ferran greeted.

"Thank you, Luna Ferran."

"We all know that it's Sierra's birthday also. And I am grateful to witness her shifting also. So now, let me introduce to you, our son, the future Alpha, Asher Lennon."

I held my breath as I saw Asher walking towards us. The whole pack house was surrounded by loud applause but it couldn't beat the loudness of my beating heart. I am just staring at Asher. He's wearing a plain white V-neck shirt paired with black jeans and white sneakers. I want to run to him but I must behave myself. I know he wants that too but of course, we can't do it in front of his parents and the whole pack.

"Hi, Miss Sierra. You are so beautiful," he said while smirking.

"Get ready, kids. The moon was starting to light up."

We both looked up at the sky and the Alpha was right. Any moment now, we might shift. So we both walked to the front of the balcony where everybody could see us.

"I love you, Sierra."

"I love you too, Asher."

I heard the cracking of bones, and I thought it was mine. But no. I heard Asher screaming in pain so I took a glance at him. He's now kneeling on the floor while the rays of the moon strike his whole body. His clothes were starting to be torn and in a blink of an eye, a huge wolf with a mixed color of white and gray was standing in front of me.

"Asher," I mumbled as I was amazed with his wolf.

He howled loudly and proudly. He jumped off the balcony and ran towards the forest. Everybody was cheering and shouting as they witnessed the shifting of our future Alpha.

"Sierra, y-you d-didn't shift."
