Chapter 97: The Reason

“Curtis,” said Chance, whose a loyal commander of Curtis.

“What is it?” asked Curtis.

“Are we not helping?”

“Which one?”

“Ours. Our eagles.”

“No,” sighed Curtis.

“What? Why?” gasped Chance.

Curtis frowned and then his brow settled after a few seconds. He turned around and looked at his small crew. There was only twenty of them left. He sighs and says with a heavy heart, “We do not help those who betrays us.”

“What!”

“Our right hand forces is no longer what it used to be.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“They no longer have their loyalties to me.”

“What?” asked the twenty eagles simultaneously.

“Fame and fortune is what they’re after now. And because I cannot give them that they have switch side. They’re not the same people I have fought by side anymore. The past decades is worthless to them. Nothing but aching memories.”

Chance stumbles backward.

Curtis exhaled slowly. “Yes. I was surprised as well.”

“How? How did you know?”

“Because of Joseph.”

“Joseph? Is he planning to betray us?”
