Megan's POV

Khalid and I hurried to the scene, and I noticed him desperately searching the area, his eyes fuming with anger at a ferocity I have never seen before. The area was clear which was a surprise.

We had seen the men run in this direction, that, I am certain of, but the area was clear, there was no one here, I could feel that, and I know Khalid could feel it too.

They weren't here which means that they had managed to escape somehow.

Khalid must be disappointed, and angry, his eyes emitted those two emotions. I feel the aura around him turn to one of rage and he starts marching out of the woods, through the entrance and out to the apartment where the security guards occupy.

I hurry after him, hoping that he doesn't go furious and do something he'd regret.

On reaching the post, the guards bowed in greeting him, but he ignored their greetings and went into scolding them.
