As I stood there, my mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions, Meghan’s words echoed in my ears.

She claimed that Khalid loved her, that their connection ran deep.

But I couldn’t bring myself to accept it, to believe that Khalid’s heart belonged to her. It felt impossible, incomprehensible.

“How could he love her?” I whispered to myself, my voice tinged with bitterness.

“He hardly knows her. I’ve known him for years, been by his side through thick and thin. How could he feel such a strong bond with someone he’s only just met?”
