Chapter 32

We sped down the highway with pulses rising. I looked down at the road with varied cars around. Pieces of sweat crammed my face. I rolled my eyes to Antonio who was making an effort to figure out the remedy to the situation.

“What are we going to do now?” I faltered with tears in my eyes. Funny how I had always wanted to die and leave this world and every evil that came with it. Being faced eye to eye with a death situation, I didn’t want to die anymore. I felt the urge and need to stay alive. I felt the need to keep pushing.

Antonio gave no rejoinder to my question. He kept cool as though nothing was happening. For crying out loud, we had a bomb down the car plus the brakes failed but he remained aloof as though nothing was happening. It was bewildering to me.

“I need you to do one thing for me” he finally spoke and flitted his eyes at me after he quickly dodged a car.

“What is it?” I anxiously asked with my knuckles turning white.
