XIII Rescue Mission

Two days after being deployed, the search team from Glaze never returned and there was no news of them. My father didn't know what had happened to them either. So without any command from anyone, our small squad of four started heading to the witches' hideout secretly.

Alden and I carried rifles complete with a flurry of bullets, swords and dozens of poison-laced arrows. Elgar and Kathleen had magic to protect themselves. I had complete trust in both of them and I was sure they wouldn't betray me.

"Are you ready?" I asked the others.

"Of course." We put on our black coats and walked out of Cornwalll. At first glance, the small village really seemed desolate with small houses that were a bit far apart. But the place was safe enough before Alden was attacked near the gate.

After weeks, the forests of Cornwall were still covered in thick snow so we had to walk slowly to avoid falling into the snowdrifts. We passed the spot where Alden was buried under a pile of snow.
