38. Trial

"Your warm bath is ready, My Lady," Vanessa announced to Caro as she bowed slightly and exited the room. She didn't even look back or say any more than she did before she left, leaving Carolyn confused.

Why did she leave like that?

Did I do something wrong?

She pouted swiftly before jolting up from the bed and taking wary steps with hesitation towards the large room they said was the bathroom. Her eyes grew wider with every passing second, making her gasp her lungs out as her jaws accompanied the surprise on her face.

With uneasy breaths, she gulped and took a step in, carefully stepping on the glass-like floor not daring to breathe as she did so. And as her eyes surveyed the entire room, she couldn't help but tear up. Never in her life did she ever imagine that a day like this would come when she would dwell in the same place as a king or get the chance to stand in a place he once stood.
