At first I froze at Lilia's words. No, not now. Not right now. Xavier and I wanted to complete the alliance and I wanted to do that without the heat. The heat was not what I had imagined at all.

This warmth was uncomfortable, so I pulled back the covers. Nobody could stand that.

xavier I strained my ears, but all I could hear was my heartbeat. So he wasn't here. To be on the safe side, I felt the other side of the bed. To my relief, Xavier really wasn't here. He would smell it immediately and I wanted to avoid that. It would drive him insane and I would struggle with myself soon enough.

Step one was getting out of bed. I walked over to the window and threw it open. The fresh air should do me good. It wasn't particularly cold outside, but at least a little cooler than in the room.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. This mild cooling would not help me for long. Something else was needed. I would definitely leave the window open so that the smell of my heat would disappear.
