[Reggie/Madison/Rei]
I woke up around noon and looked at Conric sleeping beside me. Wrapping my arms around him, I took a deep breath. Inhaling the scent of my mate. Soon, we could really be together. It was everything I’d wanted this whole year.
‘Our mate is gorgeous. I can’t wait to come back for him.’ Rei said.
‘Neither can I. We need to get out to the in-between. You up for a quick run, Rei?’
‘More than you know. How do we escape the house?’
[Reggie]Sometime later, I exited the in-between at the same point I’d entered it. I wandered down the path and wondered how long I’d been gone. For me it was only a few hours, but I knew time could pass differently. It was at least afternoon, so there was hope time had stayed the same. Then I remembered the last time fluctuation in the fae realm had lost me three days. That would really fuck up my timeline.Running, I headed for the Alpha house. I stumbled a little when I stepped on a sharp stone and ended up crashing into someone. We fell to the ground and tumbled for a few feet.“Holy fuck! Will you watch where you’re going!?” I shouted.
I wanted to tell them I wasn’t going anywhere, but it wasn’t wise. The Morrigan had been right, giving too much information wouldn’t be helpful. By tomorrow evening, they’d know everything. I’d have a lot to answer for. They knew I had my memories back. Maybe I could work with that to make them feel a little better.“I remember my life before. Hiding what I was. Fearing what could happen. Knowing the safety of a lot of people depended on me. My male mate is a sweet, caring, misunderstood man. My female mate is strong, beautiful, and deeply wounded. When we were sepa
[Jeremiah]I entered the metal fire door imbedded in the tight shrubbery. I recognized it as the front door to the warehouse apartment. Everything was just as I remembered it. The soft looking couches, the glass coffee table, every picture, plant, and knickknack was exactly where it had been the last time I’d seen it. The coffee service was set out with one empty cup. A plate of Maddie’s chocolate butterscotch cookies sat next to it. I smiled. The memory of those cookies had stayed with me for a whole year. Serena would make them som
[Serena]I smiled, looking at the door in front of me. It glared white against the deep green of the bushes surrounding it. The golden numbers on the front brought back happy memories. When we moved to the city, Indie booked one of the nicest suites in town for a whole weekend. It was the anniversary of our marking. We spent the weekend ordering room service, cuddling, talking, and making love. It became a yearly outing until Indie died.I turned the knob and entered. Indie was standing in the middle of the room, her hands folded under her chin i
[Anders]The door to my room was like the gate on our backyard at my old house. I was nervous about going in and seeing Madison again. It was hard to get myself to move. I could see through the lattice work at the top. She was there.Madison sat in a lawn chair. The place looked like the backyard of my house. Everything was exactly as it had been a year ago. She knew how much I loved sitting out there and watching everything. It made me smile that she was still thinking of things like that.I went through the gate and grinned at my reclining friend. She wasn’t natural, but was naked and I realized how much I’d idealized her. This was a beautiful young woman, but not a goddess on earth.“I’d
[Aria]I was following the wisp for a while when it ducked into a doorway. It was a pretty wooden door with a siren and the ocean carved into it. I was about to enter, when I heard voices nearby. One of them was Maddie! I wanted to go see her and tracked it to a small clearing. Making sure to stay hidden, I peeked around the trees I was behind.Maddie was talking to another woman. She was tall, blonde, and trying to clasp a small gold belt around a dress that seemed to be a ‘Y’- shaped piece of cloth which the belt was supposed to hol
[Madison]I led Aria into the place I had set up. It was a clearing with a canopy bed. The wooden spires leading to the canopy were entwined with vines and flowers. Soft sunlight dappled the ground. The place was beautiful and everything I imagined.“You’re really planning to mark me?” Aria whispered. “Yes. I’ve been looking forward to this since the moment I found out. You have no idea how much I missed you, my sweet angel. I barely had time to know you. I learned so much about you in the brief bits I saw while walk
[Madison]I was taking a walk around the in-between when I heard a scream. It sounded like Indie and it wasn’t the type of scream I remembered hearing when she was having a good time. What else could possibly go wrong?A wisp appeared and guided me to the place Indie was standing. The door looked like the front door of Dennis’ old studio apartment. I remembered going there a few times to hang out with them. Indie always took us along on things that Dennis intended as dates so she wouldn’t be tempted by him.Jogging over, I stopped in front of her. There were tears in her eyes and she looked panicked and angry all at the same time. I wondered what could have my calm, cool, big sister so upset. Indie could always handle anything.
